What on earth is this??

So DS (13) went to the dentist on Fri & they pointed this lump on his tongue. We had never spotted it before then so could have been there for ages. Dentist wasn't particularly concerned and DS isn't bothered by it at all.

WTF could it be?? Doctor Google is worrying me and has nothing that looks similar.

Tried to book an appointment at the GP this morning but no times available. Obv we'll keep trying but in the meantime, anyone have an idea of what it could be?

It doesn't hurt, is flat and doesn't bother him in the slightest. Doesn't look like a mouth ulcer or burn. Just weird!!

What on earth is this??

It looks like the sort of lump/scaby thing I get when I bite my tongue try not to panic if the dentist thought that it was cancer or something else serious they would have made an a referral to your local maxi facial clinic and told you.

Thanks @Stressedout10. I thought that might be the case.

He does a lot of sport & is very active - he has bumps & bruises all the time as he just doesn't notice!! I think he might have burnt his tongue or knocked it at some point.

We'll get the gp to have a look.

I really wouldn't be worried about it
It looks like somethings rubbed or hes bit his tongue. Worst case it could be a little papilloma which is like a verucca type thing in the mouth (not the same as a verucca), it won't cause a problem and will most likely go. It's absolutely nothing serious.

There's no point going to the GP, the dentist will know more about it than the GP. It's a total waste of time

Keep an eye on it, if it changes at all go back to the dentist, or if it starts to become sore or bothers him. But I'd just leave it until/If it ever changes.
