Refund to credit card at 0 balance

Hi, posting for traffic. We've just had a refund for a faulty item we purchased from Amazon. It's to my dh's credit card that he no longer uses (account still open, account is at £0). He's saying that he no longer has the card and would rather have it paid onto the card he has on his Amazon account now, but I believe that's not possible, is that right?

What will happen to the refund as the account will go into + credit and can we request it to be refunded to a different card?

By he no longer has The card he cut it up and leaves it as open credit so his % borrowed is lower overall.

I have recently had a big amount refunded to my credit card. You are entitled to ask them to transfer the credit balance to a current account. Mine was held with a high street bank and I had the funds in my account within 2 working days.

Once the refund hits the card account just contact the cc customer service and ask them to refund the credit balance to your bank account. They will be happy to do this and it’s straightforward. (I used to work for a credit card company)

It can still be refunded to the card. The issuing bank if the card will have it in a holding account and will either end up sending it as a cheque or if you speak with them they'll transfer it to another account.
Amazon will want to refund to the card used for fraud prevention purposes.
This sort of thing happens all the time so there are clear processes in place.

Thanks everybody. I thought this would be the case. Dh is extremely anti phone and I have to do all the telephone admin stuff, always tricky with credit cards. I've assured him we can get it paid into his bank account so that's a relief. Smile
