After beginning taking the medication? I'm wondering how long before you started to feel a difference. I'm new to it and hopeful.

My t4 was 32 my dr rang me to say you were right it's a "little" high hows your heart rate?

@AbsentmindedWoman: mostly ok, I know how to manage it better, pace myself etc. I was diagnosed after presenting with a bizarre set of symptoms, more typical of diabetes. Thyroxine made me progressively more ill. Long story involving private endocrine referral & treatment, being prescribed T3 only and getting to the "sweet spot" aka functioning dose.

Sorry to hijack your thread, OP, but...
slipperywhensparticus, I've never met anyone else with long-term hyperthyroidism. Have they let you stay on carbimazole too? I'm always spoken to like I'm the only one! Hmm

I have underactive thyroid. Been on levothyroxine for 18 months or more. I don't feel any different.

Tadpie I've been on Neomercazole (Carb) for 12 years for Graves /hyperthyroid. My gp & endo always try to persuade me to have radioactive iodine treatment but this works for me. Glad you're well.

OP - I felt well within two weeks of finally getting the right dosage- that was the hardest bit.

Hi. Yes I go back to my GP when I am symptomatic to get yet another blood test. At one point they told me that because it had only been a short time since my last blood test with OK results, I was obviously fine and wasn't allowed another. But I know my symptoms.... ridiculously lethargic, have to force myself to do anything, and covered in huge lumpy bruises... So I cried until they agreed to a blood test. Which of course showed I was right and needed more medication. They think once you hit a certain number, you will be fine for a year. Even though all my previous tests showed that my condition was fluctuating quickly.

My daughter has type 1, I know what hard work it is. Hope you feel better soon.
