As subject says.. baby is BF. Pretty EBF. Has has had the odd bottle of formula (only 3-4oz). Though never had a nappy like this before. Last formula bottle was Thursday.

She seems her normal self. Not sure whether I should be worried? Maybe see the doctor tomorrow?

How old is baby? Any signs of jaundice at all? (Yellow eyes, red/yellow skin, yellow urine)? Chalky coloured poo can be a sign of worsening jaundice, without meaning to frighten you, how is baby in themselves?

I’d visit the gp and see what they say. I can’t really tell from the picture but is it mucous-y? Has baby been in a hospital setting recently? Like on a ward or visiting someone on a ward with you?

Oh hang on - is the white bit in the middle the poo or os it the more liquid stringy bit? I'm on my phone so cant quite tell

I thought the white stuff is sudocrem or similar. Has the baby had a cold or runny nose? My kids has nappies like
This when they had a cold as they couldn't blow their nose to get rid of the nastiness, it came out in their nappies instead.

wateraddict · 03/11/2019 19:09

What is out of the ordinary for baby in particular? Is it the green? This happened to my baby every time she cut teeth and she had a roaring temp each time too. It smelt really strong, almost like vinegar and when I read up about it, the green was due to the milk passing through her faster than normal. This was my experience though and any problems do check with the doc, but if this helps you I wanted to share.

Baby is 15 weeks. Never had jaundice.

The white is sudocrem.
It's the green stringy mucus(?). She's my first baby, and she's never had a nappy like this before.
Seems normal in herself.

Is this a one off or a regular occurrence? My DD has nappies like this but has suspected CMPA.

meow1989 · 03/11/2019 19:30

Oh good! Thats less worrying then! Ds had a couple like this after a tummy bug when he had a bit of lactose intolerance, does it smell sweet? Otherwise as long as shes well hydrated and ok in self I wouldn't worry too much, maybe pop into a hv clinic rather than gp if theres one locally?

userabcname · 03/11/2019 19:41

My son had a few green poos in his ebf days. Could signal a cold if mucous-y. Otherwise, don't worry - i was told forest colours (yellow, green and brown) are all in normal range for bf baby poos while anything else (specifically red and black) is cause for concern.

Aaarrgghhh · 03/11/2019 21:08

It could be that it went through too fast after being unwell but just keep an eye on anymore changes and hydration. If the nappies become dry and the bowel movement soaks into the nappy pretty quickly then I’d go and be seen as it could be dehydration and they can give you something to help.
