Where to eat in Derby

Can anyone recommend somewhere nice to eat in Derby this evening please?

We're staying in Premier Inn and would like somewhere with nice food but not to formal so we can turn up in jeans.

TIA

The Silk Mill and The Exeter Arms are in town very close to the Premier Inn on Full Street, informal and good food. The Wonky Table in the city centre but a bit posher. If you are in the Premier Inn by the Wyvern, then Seven on Pride Park is good.

I would avoid Severn personally. Last time I went in there, there was slime in the vinegar pots Envy (not envy). Wonky Table I think also got a dubious food hygiene rating at one point, so I'd check that before I ate there.

There's a cracking sushi / Japanese place called Ebi sushi. Moonsha is a decent enough second if Ebi isn't open.

Anoki, Viceroy and Shalimar are good curry houses near the train station. And the Nepalese on London rd is also good.

Hide burger bar also good.

Ooh yes I second Anoki and Viceroy

DH recommends the Mount Everest as well

He also says the Viceroy and Anoki are also good

QUAD is good for a casual drop-in type meal, especially good for vegetarian dishes.

Lots to Google. Thank you 😁

Thanks for the recommendations.

We had to return to Derby unexpectedly last night and, more by luck than judgement, found the Dolce Salato. It was amazing!

It's a tiny Italian restaurant that only takes cash, doesn't serve alcohol (we'd opened a bottle in the hotel room so just took that with us) and has a very small menu.

The food is absolutely amazing! The chef is clearly hugely talented and they take great pleasure in seeing people enjoy what they prepare.

You can only have a table if you book, although they only had 15 mins notice from us. They usually like to know how many they are cooking for because they buy fresh each day.

I will be looking for excuses to come to Derby again soon because I don't think I can afford to eat food like that anywhere else Smile

@Poppinjay I was just coming on to suggest Dolce Salato - it's great isn't it? Not the cheapest but excellent value.

Anoki are great for Indian food for future visits.

Poppinjay · 06/11/2019 22:32

DCIRoz, it was worth every penny Smile

We'll have to give Anoki a go next time.
