I am looking for more creative outlets but need inspiration.
Currently I write, swim when I can, used to walk but have SPD so that's out, crochet, read...

Sounds like a lot but I'm getting a bit bored even though I enjoy them if you see what I mean...

I have done some metalworking courses and absolutely love it. Creative and you get to bash things with a hammer (sometimes) and use a blowtorch. Very therapeutic!

I also paint and used to do needlepoint.

ChrisPrattsFace · 03/11/2019 11:11

Absolutely nothing. I have a boring life.
However I do like nap when possible.

KatyaZamolodchikova · 03/11/2019 11:11

I knit & read and then physical hobbies are Yoga, Pole & Aerial Hoop. But tbf I don’t have children of my own so I do find time to leave the house to do things, which makes it easier!

topcat2014 · 03/11/2019 11:28

Church bell ringing, beaver leader, charity trustee, school governor. God that all sounds a bit worthy...

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 03/11/2019 11:31

Sounds lovely! A bit Agatha Christie...

Queenoftheashes · 03/11/2019 11:32

I do crochet, piano, choir, reading, watching game of thrones, sometimes swimming and baking

Sunnysidegold · 03/11/2019 11:34

Reading, gardening, painting by numbers sets, walking. Going to buy a big jigsaw board thing and start jigsaws.

Bellasblankexpression · 03/11/2019 12:31

I love baking, but don't love that I end up with all the tempting food to eat afterwards 😂

You've made me want to read an Agatha Christie book now!

Some really interesting hobbies, especially bell ringing

Eating the cake is a massive problem. I might bake birthday cakes for other people but still ingest half the icing during the process.

huuskymam · 03/11/2019 14:37

Cross stitching and hiking

huuskymam · 03/11/2019 14:38

And a bit of amatue photography

Ylfa · 03/11/2019 14:44

Currently addicted to sketching and painting, also love crochet, knitting, running, walking, spying on the garden birds, have two horses, taking photos (usually wildlife) and doing things to them in apps under the guise of ‘digital art’ >>> Instagram, writing, reading, chatting rubbish with friends, learning languages, family history.

RedRosie · 03/11/2019 14:44

Learning languages (French, Italian). I'm not talented but it's good for my brain.

milliefiori · 03/11/2019 14:45

Kayaking! Life on the river is the happiest thing. Everyone is in a good mood because bobbing about right down low in the water, controlling a tiny boat with a single paddle is so peaceful and exciting at the same time. Love learning all the manouvres to handle the kayak. Love being at one with the wildlife. You can paddle right up close to herons, coots, moorhens and cormorants and because you are on their level, they think it's fine.

I also love walking pretty much anywhere, woods, hills, city streets. Luckily DC love it too so we walk a lot as a family.

Also love a bit of culture - more a pastime than a hobby as I don;t have to put any effort in myself - but I really enjoy going to the theatre or to art exhibitions and try to do that at least once a month.

PsychosonicCindy · 03/11/2019 14:47

I knit, I do crazy patchwork.Me and my mum are getting obsessed doing kumihimo at the moment (making braids using a wheel type thing) honestly it is addictive! Also like watching the birds buying them new feeders all the time! And I do colouring books.

Elbowedout · 03/11/2019 16:04

I have taken up embroidery recently to combat boredom as I am basically housebound due to illness at present. My true love is cycling, but I cant do much currently. Sad

redredrobins · 03/11/2019 16:21

I agree about kayaking, it is even better on the sea, seals come up to you to see what your doing!

milliefiori · 03/11/2019 16:51

@redredrobins - I plan to start sea kayaking next year. Just need a bit more time on the water and a bit more skill handling the kayak in choppy water. Can't wait!

milliefiori · 03/11/2019 16:54

@redredrobins - do you wear a wetsuit? I'm wondering abotu getting one and didn;t know what type to buy - full body or short; with or without arms, which make etc. The plan is to do some kayaking around the coastline and then start paddling out to some islands so we're gearing up to do several km and want to stay warm.

redredrobins · 03/11/2019 18:04

I have done most of my kayaking in warm weather (in the UK and Canada and USA ) and find a good quality cagoule is warm enough. However my DH likes to wear a dry suit, he found wet suits too constricting to paddle efficiently, although sleeveless wet suits are not so bad.

I hope you will be using real (closed cockpit) kayaks, not those horrible sit on things. Also, more seriously, do make sure you get really good training before sea kayaking, it is a dangerous place for the unprepared. I would recommend Plas y Brenin in Wales, they really are the best and run a 2 day intro to sea kayaking course.
Enjoy!

Ithinkwerealonenowtiffany · 03/11/2019 18:06

Wine and running.
I run a lot, and love marathons

JigsawsAreInPieces · 03/11/2019 18:09

Just taken up sewing needlecrafts again, crochet, knitting, glass fusing in my own kiln (not a cheap hobby 😱) Reading, cookery.

Sometimes I find time to do some housework! Blush

redredrobins · 03/11/2019 18:11

@milliefiori
I forgot to link to you, hope you see my post now and find it helpful.

TerfinUSA99 · 03/11/2019 18:15

Teaching myself cookery skills - eg homemade ravioli, sushi, crispy duck, curry from scratch, pastry

Geocaching

Matched betting

Trying out all the new social media platforms that come out so I can keep up/ahead of my kids

Watching "classic" films on Netflix/tv that I never saw in my youth

Exploring new gins and flavoured tonics

(In the past) biology A level studied at home

Helping with Speedwatch (if available in your location)

Learning card games (easier with a second person)

milliefiori · 04/11/2019 14:13

@redredrobins - yes, thank you. Especially for the tip about the Welsh place. I really fancy a two day training course in sea kayaking. We were looking at place sin Dorset though. And the sleevless wetsuits sound good. I want freedom of movement in the shoulders to improve my techniques with the paddle.

@TerfinUSA99 - I do that with classic films sometimes. So interesting to see what you missed. I loved Gaslight but really didn't care much for Notorious which I thought I'd love. Quite liked 12 Angry Men. It feels odd watching them after having heard about them for decades!
