I did have a thread on this a while ago but think have now listened to most of the recommendations!

So I love a bit of Victorian crime/thriller, perfect for listening to during the dark winter months. Or maybe any other thriller novel set in cold climates

Prefer book to be at least 20 hours (feel a bit cheated on the shorter books!)

So far I have listened to
Woman in White
The Moonstone
Bleak House
Sherlock Holmes collection
Fictional account of Jack the Ripper's victims (can't remember name)
Crime and Punishment
War and Peace
Most of Sarah Walters
The Goldfinch (not historical but a fab lengthy story)

Any other recommendations much appreciated as totally stumped what to spend this months credit on

I enjoyed 'The Strings of Murder', but is not 20 hours (I generally have a 10 hour minimum)

Also listened to Dracula and Frankenstein

Currently listening to Salem’s Lot. Like a modern Dracula. It’s fab!

Ruby and the Smoke and the sequels might appeal. They're aimed at children's but by Philip Pullman so very well written (I really enjoyed the books). I've downloaded them but not got round to listening yet, but they're narrated by Anton Lesser who has a gorgeous voice.

For a thriller set in cold climates you could also try One Night in Winter by Simon Sebag Montefiore, The Tenderness of Wolves by Stef Penney or one of Martin Cruz Smith's Arkady Renko thrillers set in post Cold War Russia.

Not a thriller. But Diana Gabledon's Outlander series are all well over 40 hours long.

Very true

I'm currently listening to Little Dorrit narrated by the peerless Anton. It's excellent.

That's great thanks. Have also just seen that Nicholas Nickleby is a freebie at the moment
