Hospital

My mother has been taken into hospital after collapsing (they are conscious and coherent) but has a history of heart attacks so have been taken in for different tests. Would it be frowned upon by staff if I go to the hospital to see her? She has a partner with her. She isn’t on a ward. It is being assessed. I want to go but am not sure whether it will be deemed to be over the top by staff.

Why would it? You're a worried family member. I'd do exactly that if it was my DM and it wouldn't even cross my mind that I'd be considered over the top.
Go and see your DM. I'm sure she will be pleased.

Of course not but you can always ring the hospital to ask if you are concerned about whether there are specific hours they will let you in.

I hope your mum recovers well. Flowers

When I had to go into A & E last year, there was an older lady in there with about 12 relatives. They were sat on all the chairs in the small waiting room inside.... I had to sit on the floor, until the nurse came back and read them the riot act!

I'm sure 2 visitors won't be seen as inappropriate and her partner may appreciate being able to go off for food etc. I hope she's better soon.

Go

Thank you for all your replies. Do you have to go to a and e and speak to reception? Sorry to ask stupid questions. I always read so much on here about wasting the hospitals time and it being overcrowded with unnecessary visitors.

Of course it's OK to go. Just tell reception who you are there to see & I'm sure you'll be let in to see your mum. It's not over the top to go at all Flowers

Yes absolutely go. Have been in same position and they were absolutely fine. Rang up and they gave me an update on the phone when I was on my way and I asked where I should come in and they said via a&e and ask at desk then someone took me through
