Boys pants - suggestions please Skinny Kid

I am fed up of buying jockey short style pants for my son!
He keeps tugging because he's not comfy in his pants and it's definitely the pants that is the problem.

He's really skinny so I have to buy much younger pants than his age... then the problem seems to be there is no baggy big for his genitals to fit in comfortably. Hence the tugging.

Given up entirely on the M&S range and now also exhausted Next. I have spent a bloody fortune. He won't wear pants or slips because the boys at school tease.

He has under 24" / 62cm hip circumference which according to charts, is age 5-7 (and some shops - age 3-4). He is 9. He also won't wear patterned clothes so they need to be plain.

What do your skinny boys wear? Where can I get old fashioned cotton boxers to try?

you can get baggier fit ones here, which are measured in height so hopefully should fit.

Xiaoxiong · 02/11/2019 15:57

Well Boden 9-10 says 24.5" waist, might those work? The DSs love their boxers.

dungtwicebother · 02/11/2019 16:04

Thanks for the link sleep
I'd never get him in check pattern in a million years. He's refused to wear socks even with a stripe since he was 2. Absolutely normal boy except a very weird pattern objection! Complete refusal. Hmm

Xian will look at Boden but fear I'm not rich enough

Just measured his waist.
22" or 57cm

I'm sure Asda and tesco sell baggier boxers as that's what ds wore for years.

ThisIsSamhain · 02/11/2019 16:08

Can you not take them in yourself to fit? Would be very easy with a sewing machine, just turn them inside out and run a double stitch from the band to the leg hole and cut excess away

dementedpixie · 02/11/2019 16:11

These are less fitted

Verbaudet comes up very slim. I don’t know about boy pants as I have dds, but Boden and Verbaudet definitely come up slimmer than high street brands.

dementedpixie · 02/11/2019 16:12

That's Asda btw

dungtwicebother · 02/11/2019 16:13

Thisissam - that's possible - my mum has a sewing machine

My DS is exactly the same - best boxers we found were Primark!

He also likes firetrap as they seem to be quite slim fitting round the leg (DS is almost 12)

ThisIsSamhain · 02/11/2019 16:15

Dung, I have a tall skinny son so I'm forever taking waistbands in. I feel your pain.

baffledbeyondbelief · 02/11/2019 16:15

Cross posted! I like the material from GAP too, there's always a discount code if you google too.

sleepismysuperpower1 · 02/11/2019 16:16

could you buy the checked pants and then get the dye that you put in the washing machine, therefore dying them a solid colour?

dungtwicebother · 02/11/2019 16:17

demented - they look good.. Could you paste the link as I went to Asda but got George I think and they only have jacket shorts...

they look very feasible ! Plain and can buy smaller for waist size

thank you they look exactly what we need... will order in age 4-5, 5-6, 6-7 and see what works best! The size chart suggests age 4-5 Shock

I showed them to him and he said I don't want a button but is happy for me to take it off and sew the flap closed.

At £4 as well, better price if he doesn't like them!!

I had been googling for ages as well. THANK YOU

Grin I haven't actually done it myself (well, not for pants at least) but its the same as sticking the stuff into the washing machine only this time you put the dye in there too
