Does this sound like a sinus infection? Help, I'm miserable

It has been about 5 weeks now.

One nostril is bunged up to high heaven, I have ear discomfort on the same side and an inflamed sore lymph node on the same side of my throat also. My teeth and jaw ache in the morning and I've had a small amount of coughing and sneezing but not excessively. My head feels fuzzy and I feel so drained.

I've waited it out and it isn't shifting so I'm wondering whether it's a sinus infection that needs antibiotics.

Does any of this ring true for a sinus infection? I've never had one before, that I can remember and I don't want to waste the doctors time.

How are you today op?

Think you are already on this page OP...

But I went through something similar, endless appointments with docs and hospital.... turned out I was in the wrong building. It was a wisdom tooth going the wrong way.

Hello, been to the dentist (needed a filling) but he said he's fairly sure the gland/illness isn't dental. He felt my throat and said he can refer me to hospital or I can talk to my GP. I chose to speak to my GP.

I felt somewhat better the other day then declined again. Currently laid on sofa feeling terrible. An overwhelming feeling of weakness and "yuckiness"

Doctor has prescribed antibiotics, over the telephone (they don't take chances with me because I have a recent history of blood poisoning) and I'm to go into the surgery to pick up a bloods request form, have some bloods done and make an appointment to discuss the results.

Bit worried now as I had started to believe it was dental and easily sortable. It's a long time to be ill. Hopefully the antibiotics help and I'm not taking them in vain Sad

When I spoke to GP on the phone he said he's wondering about glandular fever, I rubbished the thought because as far as I knew you could only get it once - which I had in my teens and was in hospital for it.

A quick search on MN alone reveals plenty of people saying they've had it twice.

Going to drag myself for my blood test tomorrow, can barely move from the couch today Sad

Name change fail! It is I, the OP!

Huh. Interestingly, I'm having similar symptoms. Mine are intermittent; achy not sore throat around the glands under my jaw (both sides, sometimes alternating), some sinus and ear congestion (again, both sides). Stuffy head, sometimes becomes an actual headache. Gums and roof of mouth feel sore sometimes. Jaw aches sometimes. My eyes feel puffy, although they're not when you look at them. No temperature or fever, no difficulty swallowing. A little nasal congestion, sometimes, not loads of snot though. Stop saying 'sometimes'

For me it's weaker/milder than it sounds like for you; it's not stopping me doing anything but I do feel decidedly less than optimal most of the time. Tends to be worse in the mornings. It's been going on about six weeks now.

I've been to my GP, he thought it was dental and possibly something to do with anxiety-driven teeth-grinding, and told me to see my dentist (who I'm seeing later this week). He also said one of my ears is all gunged up and suggested ear-drops. Not sure it 'feels' dental, although I'm due a check-up anyway so no harm done. I even had a full STI check Blush as I wondered if it might be something like that. But no, all negative.

Whatever it is, I wish it would kindly sod off, I've had enough of it now.

OP again after the name change fail before

I'm sorry you've been feeling crap for weeks too, Plausible. Coincidentally I'm an anxious teeth grinder too and dentist has prescribed a bite guard for me which I received during my appointment yesterday.

It's odd that we are having similar symptoms whilst my dentist is sure that it's not dental and your doctor thinks that it could be.

I've got such terrible fatigue today, and as I type this I've got a very sharp prickle in my right ear and right throat gland.

The symptoms seem to change and alternate ive even had an upset stomach but the one constant is the problem with my throat gland and ear.

I really hope you shift it soon. This such a PITA being ill as it is, let alone for this length of time. It doesn't help that I have two children under the age of two so getting rest is out of the question Envy

Well, I haven't seen my dentist yet so we'll see; he might send me back to the GP. The doc just said to me, 'GPs don't generally do gums and teeth, we leave that to the dentists' and suggested I make an appointment. He did check my throat, ears and eyes, and asked a few presumably ruley-outy questions, and besides the waxed-up ears he said I was totally healthy, so who knows. It hasn't got any worse, I suppose.

It just feels like all my facial... channels, for want of a better word nose, ears, under my teeth, sinuses are inflamed and raw. Ugh. Rotten.

I haven't had the upset stomach, thankfully. You have my sympathies, it's so horrible when you feel off and can't get the chance to rest. I hope you shift yours soon as well.
