Theme park in the pouring rain

Any tips please? I'm putting the kids (and myself) in waterproof trousers and jackets plus wellies. Will put spare clothes in the car. It's our only chance to go so think we will embrace the madness and just do it ☔

You'll have a lovely time. I bet you'll get on the rides easier! Just take a flask and warm up when you need too. The only thing I would check is if there are. Closures due to high winds. Have fun

We take one black bin bag per person. to sit on if ride is wet. but you might not need that if you are in waterproof clothes.
And a hand towel to wipe them down?
enjoy! queues will be shorter!

We did it in March. Put us all in waterproof trousers/coats/boots We had a great time. Even when the rain stopped, all the rides were still soaking wet but thanks to our waterproofs, no-one had a wet bum.

We're booked to go to Legoland tomorrow and I was just watching the howling wind and rain from the window hoping that it would be less windy at least tomorrow.

Have a great time, where are you going?

I did it years ago - summer preschool trip - and it was great, no queues! Lots of dry clothes, a small towel to do quick dry offs and a hot drink at the end of it all made it a great day, just remember to be flexible on your plans.

SpookilyBadOooooooh · 02/11/2019 08:55

Phone before you go and see what rides are open. - if it’s even open at all.

Weather warnings here (SE) with high winds and rain.

I think some will be closed.

Why is it your only chance to go? Is it going to be worth the £? Is it going to be even remotely enjoyable?

I mean, I’m all for just getting in with life wearing appropriate clothing, but when it’s something that’s meant to be fun, if the conditions mean it won’t be, is there any point?!

Goodnightseamer · 02/11/2019 08:56

I've not done it but I think I would take several flasks of tea (this is a good strategy for life in general anyway), a couple of tea towels for general and seat drying purposes and blankets for the drive back. I would not bother with pack up unless there's an enclosed area to eat it in because sandwiches in the rain is pretty tragic and I'm guessing everyone will want hot food anyway. Have fun! At least it won't be crowded and skin is waterproof!

As long as you are properly dressed up for the rain it will be fine and likely to be reasonably quiet. Strong winds however are more of a concern and may lead to things being closed.

Goodnightseamer · 02/11/2019 09:02

Also I would say, as someone who bikes to work and also is a member of a walking club, that there are very few days where it actually rains all day in one location in this country. So it won't be as brutal as you think.

Bluewavescrashing · 02/11/2019 09:06

We know the park really well and there's lots to do indoors. Hot food in the cafe. I'll take a hot drink in a flask- good shout 👌

I've been given tickets which expire today so it's our only chance, but as it's not costing anything I think it's worth going!

Well we've been here for 3 hours so far and it's a great day! Park is very quiet, most rides running, lots of tasty food options. Kids are having a whale of a time despite the rain so I'm happy too 🙂

Some parks have a rainy day policy - Alton Towers has a list of dates where if it has rained for an hour you can come back for free!
