Just had a tooth out and looking for food ideas

Hey all,

I had a tooth out this morning and I stupidly didn’t eat breakfast before hand (I was really nervous, super proud of myself now it’s out though Grin ) and I’m so hungry, it was pretty traumatic so I’m probably not going to be able to eat properly for a few days. Looking for food ideas that will be easy to eat. Advise would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

Porridge
Soup
Mashes (sweet potato might be nice)
Smoothies for fruit intake
Slow cooker chicken stew - cook on low all day so nice and soft
Feel better soon Thanks

I feel for you. I had one out earlier this year and DH had one recently. We had 2 very different experiences with me struggling for a lot longer but generally we both went with this food wise.

First few days, lump free soup for lunch and tea (but not too hot. If you are still numb you could burn yourself and for a few days too hot can cause problem with the blood clot). DH ate ready brek for breakfast and I could cope with bread chewed very carefully. Other foods, custard if you have a sweet tooth or ice cream/mousse/yoghurt.

After this migrated to soft foods like pasta, noodles, mashed potato, mashed banana nothing too chewy still had a lot of soup though managed with bread dipped in.

Biggest advice avoid rice until the wound has healed. It get stuck in the hole and is very painful/uncomfortable.

Above all do not rinse and spit for the first 24 hours then never forget to rinse with salt water (1tsp in a glass of water) after every meal. It also soothes in between meals if feeling very sore or if you get any food stuck).

If you haven't already, get some painkillers in your system before the anaesthetic wears off and then take regularly. DH found ibuprofen worked the best but I can't comment as cant take that.

Wish you well recovering. It will take a while as heals from inside out but if pain suddenly gets worse especially around day 5 go straight to dentist as this could mean a complication such as dry socket that can easily be treated.

Hope you like soup! Flowers

I had banana whizzed in a blender with greek yoghurt which was cooling and soothing.

Also I made this soup which was absolutely bloody lovely. Don't eat anything too hot at this point.

2nd the advice to avoid rice, cous cous or any kind of seed. I remember my sister flushing 6 grains of rice out of a wisdom tooth socket.

Custard is good though!

Cheesey mash
Scrambled eggs
Yoghurt
Custard
Bananas
Semolina
Leek and potato soup
In a few days crumpets
