Would you be put off living next to us?

Next door has been for sale for months - since early summer at least. At first there were lots of viewings and one sale that fell through. But now, nothing for weeks.

Other houses on the street have sold in the time and I am starting to wonder if it's us!

The house is a former rental that has been done up neutrally. It has a largeish flat garden that the owner maintains. It is within easy walking distance of shops and 2 good local schools.

We are attached and have 3 small dc inc twins. We also work all the hours God sends and accordingly the garden is a bit shabby and our car is not exactly an old banger but rather worn.

Would you be put off living next to a family like that? Blush

Are they attached to you (terrace or semi) and are you rather loud? If yes then that’s the only thing that would put me off. Unless you’re massively under estimating the state of your garden and it’s not so much a bit shabby as a huge pile of trash. No one sane cars about the neighbour’s car though!

CaptainMyCaptain · 31/10/2019 14:13

It wouldn't put me off. Maybe it's too highly priced but really it's the luck of the draw, the right buyer turning up to view at the right time.

bobstersmum · 31/10/2019 14:13

Why do you even care?

DogAndCatPerson · 31/10/2019 14:15

I’d be put off buying an immaculate development that was next door to a poorly maintained house & garden.

DogAndCatPerson · 31/10/2019 14:15

First impressions count.

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 31/10/2019 14:15

We're not esp loud for a family of 5 - no blaring music, no loud TV, kids in bed by 730pm.

I just wonder if people look at the shabbiness and evidence of multiple small dc and think eurgh!

Is there a washing machine in your garden? That would put me off as it says a lot!

SmileCheese · 31/10/2019 14:18

It depends if you are attached to the neighbouring property and if when people have viewed they have heard a lot of noise from your house. If I visited a property and it was incredibly noisy next door it would probably deter me especially if houses regularly come up for sale on your street.

Your garden and car however are unlikely to be putting people off.

GrumpyHoonMain · 31/10/2019 14:21

It would depend on how nice the rest of the street is in comparison to your bit.

EleanorReally · 31/10/2019 14:22

WHAT Evidence is there of multiple small dc Shock, front garden full of toys? back garden full of toys?, loads of wellies by the front door

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 31/10/2019 14:22

Hiding

No, how random Grin I store my white goods in my utility room!

Don't think we are very noisy other than normal babies crying and children playing noise.

just be grateful for the time being,
how many bedrooms is the house?

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 31/10/2019 14:24

Eleanor - small play fort in garden plus often double buggy parked outside - in nice weather, lots of toddler clothes on washing line - car with 3 car seats in on drive.

EleanorReally · 31/10/2019 14:26

it doesnt matter op

AfterSchoolWorry · 31/10/2019 14:26

No, wouldn't put me off.

Big dogs that are kept outside in the back garden would be my biggest reason.

Even if your 3 children are putting people off , what can do do about it and why do you care ? If you find out that this is the case will you put the kids up for adoption Grin?

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 31/10/2019 14:33

Candle - tempting!!! I don't really care and am quite glad of the peace whilst we don't have ndn. Just musing really!

No, it's not you op,you sound nice, and honest too.Is the house net door ok,maybe it has a few issues that picky people don't like.

Autumn2019 · 31/10/2019 14:38

No, wouldn't put me off. If i was viewing a property and heard very loud music then that will put me off. But the sound of little children or a shabby garden wouldn't put me off

Drogosnextwife · 31/10/2019 14:41

Shabbiness, no. 3 young children, yes. Sorry. Probably nothing to do with you though.

BigFatLiar · 31/10/2019 14:42

Do you stand naked in the window where the neighbours can see? Grin

BarbourellaTheCoatzilla · 31/10/2019 14:46

Noisey Neighbours would be my biggest put off. But I don't think 3 kids is automatically equal to noise. I thought we would be ok here attached to an elderly lady. However her daughter takes her out daily (lovely) but leaves her very loud dog that is clearly riddled with separation anxiety to howl it's tits off all the fucking day driving me absolutely insane and meaning I struggle to work from home (I can't take calls or video call due to noise). I'm much rather live next to 3 well behaved kids than this right now.

Troels · 31/10/2019 14:48

Dogs who bark all day and a teen with a proper drum kit would put me off. Your description wouldn't.
We have a family next to us who are brilliant. 3 small children now all in school and we love how they are. Never really hear the kids at all.
