Daddy has been evicted from the king size bed onto the sofa. I have replaced him with a snuffly, heavy breathing younger version.

LO has caught the dreaded lurgies from us.
The Calpol plug in is on, she's had paracetamol- just a case of riding this through now.

Who's with me for zero sleep for the foreseeable? Any takers?

Day 9 for us. Carol plug in bought two days in. Accidentally thew it down the stairs tonight. Still working thank god!!
Snuffle baby vapour rub is better than Vicks.

Thismummyruns · 31/10/2019 01:25

Ahhhh, my people!

This is what torture is like. I think we're on 15 minute wake ups right now.
She's wised up to the calpol and is now rejecting like it's some sort of evil poison. I wish she knew how much it is worth in its weight in gold to parents and guardians up and down the land!

I have a fun packed day tomorrow with the eldest...

Yay.

Ps- I hope this isn't a 9 dayer. Oh. My. God.

How old is your LO?
My LO is

Theipcode · 31/10/2019 02:48

Sorry pressed send too soon. My LO is 4 months and I’m dreading this!

Drbrowns · 31/10/2019 02:54

Night number three sitting up in bed with baby on chest as he can’t breathe lying down. Dh has caught it and is dramatically shivering in bed beside me incase I don’t realise he’s sick. Hmm SO VERY TIRED

Theipcode · 31/10/2019 03:00

@Drbrowns do you use one of those nasal mucus/snot sucky straw things to unblock your LO ones nose?
I have one but not needed to use it yet but wonder how effective they would be anyway.

Drbrowns · 31/10/2019 03:03

I tried it a few times but didn’t seem to make a difference. Just using saline spray and snuggle babe and hoping it passes soon.

Drbrowns · 31/10/2019 03:04

Snuffle babe not snuggle

yummychoccy · 31/10/2019 05:06

The snot sucky things work great! Although obviously the snot does end up returning!

We have had so many colds here. Definitely Vicks plug in, olbas oil, snuffle babe, snot sucker, saline drops, steamy bathroom.

Good luck!

Pinkywoo · 31/10/2019 05:35

My little boy is only 12 days old and has oral thrush, he's feeling really poorly so I'm on the sofa with him in the sling so I can actually use my arms. Bring on 2 months so he can have Calpol!

Liland · 31/10/2019 07:35

Are the plug ins really that good? And for what exactly?

My LO is on day 4ish of the latest cold - this one complete with fever and wheezing. He's had loads of colds already (part time nursery since 4 months) but this is the worst. He's only sleeping on top of me, and still waking every 1-2 hours. At least he's drinking loads of milk..

Ohnoherewego62 · 31/10/2019 07:41

Bless you and little one!

Shuffle babe rubbed on their feet! Worked well for mine. Meant more snuggles too. Lots of fluids and love!

Ohnoherewego62 · 31/10/2019 07:41

Snuffle*

IVEgotthePUMPKINS · 31/10/2019 07:43

Vicks plug ins are amazing for helping sleep when all bunged up. I use it myself when i have a cold Grin

IVEgotthePUMPKINS · 31/10/2019 07:43

*calpol plug in

Whyismycatanasshat · 31/10/2019 08:41

I’m in love with the calpol plug in.
Snot baby slept from 8-8 for the first time last night since the cold began. We had e calpol plug on in the living room yesterday too, 24 hours of plug in!

For the poster asking; it’s basically a warming plate in a plug that you slide an oil soaked pad on to. The of lasts about 12 hours. You need to turn the plug on about 30 mins before bedtime to fill the room.

Liland · 31/10/2019 14:17

Thanks, I've got one plugged in now, fi gets crossed!

TK83 · 06/01/2022 07:58

Hi all,
My 18 month old has had a long lasting cold so she's had a Calpol plug in every night for the past two months (it been bankrupting me!) and she's been sleeping like a dream in recent weeks until 7am (previously unheard of!)
I've tried no Calpol plug in for the past two nights as her cold seems to have dried up but she's woken at 5.15 both mornings.
This might be a silly question but can they become 'addicted' to the plug in?! Maybe the lavender vapour helps her sleep longer? Have any of you had this same problem? I can't give her one every single night as they're so expense!
Thanks in advance and sorry if this sounds silly xx
