Period pants

Just bought some period pants. They seem very thin, not sure what I was expecting!
Do they really work? I use washable pads but they seem thicker.

I have been using some for a few months now and mine work - I have a pretty heavy flow.

SophiaLarsen · 31/10/2019 10:19

That's what's so good about them! I only use reusable pads for one heavy day and even then I don't think it's totally necessary.

I got Cheeky Wipes ones which type do you have?

wheresmyhairytoe · 31/10/2019 21:02

I've got cheeky wipes ones.

Worn today and seem fine, just the thinness that threw me.

Very comfy though!

So much more comfortable than reusable pads!
If you're very heavy I really recommend Modibodi, the most absorbant ones are basically leak proof, whatever you throw at them.

OytheBumbler · 31/10/2019 22:01

I'm interested in getting these but how do you wash them?

Presumably they need rinsing out (in the bathroom sinkConfused?) then can they go in the normal wash?

Duckyneedsaclean · 01/11/2019 11:15

@OytheBumbler yes just rinse in the sink and in with the normal wash. I usually run them on a rinse with dettol before adding the rest of the wash, but it's not necessary.

reluctantbrit · 01/11/2019 12:05

DD wears Modibodis, she loves them and we only had one leak due to her not changing in time (she normally changes after 7-8 hours aka a school day).

She rinse them in the bath with the shower attachment and I put them in the wash, gentle cycle with some detergent. They do take a while to dry though as they are a bit ticker, especially the heavy/overnight one.

mulky · 01/11/2019 19:11

My mind is blown by this invention. So you put the pants on in the morning and change them 7 ish hours later?

reluctantbrit · 01/11/2019 20:11

It obviously depends on your flow but DD manages from 7am - 4pm. She wears the heavy/overnight Modibodi on PE days but otherwise she has the medium flow ones.

Unfortunately I can't use them, I am out of the house for 10 hours and bleed very heavy for 2-3 days, with no way to change underwear only pants :-(

Grimbles · 01/11/2019 20:39

I've got some modibodi seamfree which I love. Unfortunately 1 pair accidentally got put in the tumble dryer which 'unglued' the gusset area and they fell apart 😬

Grimbles · 01/11/2019 20:40

I use mine as back up to a menstrual cup or on their own on light days

JumpingFrogs · 01/11/2019 20:50

Modibodi here. Put them on quick rinse cycle in machine each evening and then a wash cycle, so no rinsing by hand. Very heavy periods but no problems with leakage. Expensive, but if you put on wash each evening you can manage with 3 or 4 pairs. Don't need to change them during the day unless you want to, because they are SO absorbent.

Fishcakey · 01/11/2019 20:51

I like the idea of using them as a back up to a tampon but the idea of using them all day as protection makes me want to spew 🤮

drspouse · 01/11/2019 20:53

I have Pad Lady from Etsy, she made me some custom pants when I said the absorbent bit was too far back. So comfy too.

stucknoue · 01/11/2019 21:03

@reluctantbrit

I put in a disposable pad or wear a tampon in addition to my pants if I need to be out for an extended period , they work fine all day on day 3,4 &5 I find

Grimbles · 01/11/2019 21:06

Fishcakey, why is bleeding into one kind of absorbent material worse than another?

Northernlurker · 01/11/2019 21:07

Dd3 is getting on well with modibodi too

SellFridges · 01/11/2019 21:10

Modibodi for the win here. I’ve pretty much converted totally, only use disposables if Day 1 is very heavy and even then it’s more of a reassurance thing.

Fishcakey · 01/11/2019 21:49

@Grimbles - with a pad I am changing regularly: I don't like the idea of sitting in i all day.
