Or just any two from that team?

Would depend on the circumstances, if under a community team they'd ask the teams psychiatrist where possible if they are Section 12 approved. If picked up on a 136 or similar it would be whomever is available.

Agree with the above... If someone comes in on a S136 it will be whoever is available.

FlowerTink · 30/10/2019 18:06

If they're brought in (by the police for example) then it's whoever is available, or if its a callout to the house (unexpected as such) it is usually whoever is available.

If they are already under a team and being monitored and deteriorated in that way, then it will be by the team/the consultant working with the team.

Blameitonthegoodtimes · 30/10/2019 18:08

It’s a request for one from the care coordinator in the team not a 136.

Hopefully it'll be the teams psychiatrist then, should make it a more robust assessment if the patient is already known.

georgialondon · 30/10/2019 18:35

Totally depends on circumstances.

Blameitonthegoodtimes · 30/10/2019 19:45

I assume it will only be the teams psychiatrist if they are working? So it could be any member of the team?

There must be 2 doctors (one of whom must be Section 12 approved) and a specialist nurse / social worker known as an AMPH. it's likely there wouldn't be one in the community team, they aren't usually caseload holders.

Blameitonthegoodtimes · 30/10/2019 20:09

Thank you So will he know one of the people during his assessment?

It's good practice for one of the Dr's to have prior knowledge of the patient but obviously this isn't always possible and the AMHP will be required to record why neither Dr knew the patient on their application if a patient is detained.

Do amps directly contact the psychiatrists themselves?
