Suggestions for a good bin for dirty nappies?

I’m not after an actual “nappy bin” as they seem to be more money and hassle than they’re worth, but our bedroom is on the 3rd floor so I do need something I can put dirty nappies in overnight. Has anyone got recommendations for a cheap and cheerful bin that did the job for them, or would I be better off just going for a big airtight Tupperware type thing?

How many are you really getting that you need a bin?! Just whack in a bag and take them down in the morning.

I really think proper nappy bins are worth the money and aren't a hassle.

Baby isn’t here yet so it’s hard to say... but I’d rather our bedroom didn’t smell of dirty nappies if we can avoid it, and from what I hear nappy bags by themselves don’t quite do the magic.

Just pop the bagged nappy in the nearest bathroom bin and empty the bin in the morning? I rarely changed a nappy during the night after the first couple of weeks, and when I did it was usually just wet. If you really think you need a special bin, I'm sure anything with a reasonably tight lid would do, like the flip lid pedal bins?

To be honest, if you're up changing nappies you will probably end up needing to go downstairs anyway - to get a drink, for example. Not much extra effort just to pop a nappy in the outdoor bin.

Nappy bins are a total waste of money. Chuck it in a bin on the landing & take it down in the morning.

I bag mine and drop out the window into the back garden to be rounded up in the morning

Teachermaths · 30/10/2019 12:20

Put them on the landing. Newborns poo really doesn't smell bad at all.

Honestly for the price just get a £10 Tommee Tippee Sangenic. Refills are cheaper still if you get the generic ones.
Ours was a godsend upstairs in a 3 storey house, post c-section during a freezing winter. Fold nappy, put in bin, spin and seal. Job done. And post weaning nappies do pong!

That's exactly what i used to do! I didn't want dirty nappies in the house-ever-straight to the outside bin when I got downstairs.

Once things were solid enough that would go down the loo as well.
