DS 11 can’t weight near after fall - A&E or wait and see?

Morning, today’s dilemma - DS 11 fell off the back step yesterday evening. Was in a lot of pain (he’s quite stoical usually), had some swelling on the side of his foot and small gashes on the top of his foot and little toe. The swelling wasn’t very much last night and isn’t any worse this morning. But he can’t put any weight on his foot.

So, A&E or wait and see?

Hang on, will take a pic...

When I fractured my 5th metatarsal I had a cast I could weight bear with, and a special shoe to wrap around it. Hopefully that’s what your DS has been given today at the fracture clinic. Should make school a bit easier to manage, without crutches.

Aw, support like this makes remember why I love MN. I’m on my own with the kids so I don’t have anyone to talk to about this stuff. I do miss that. Well, I have friends and family but it’s not quite the same.

So, the hospital were amazing yesterday - DS has a smart bright coloured cast on with a fetching bootee and got given lots of instructions to help it mend quickly.

The waterproof Limbo cover came quickly so I’ll run a bath for him later.

Had a lovely email from school outlining the support he can have. I’ll go in with him on Monday and check he feels confident about getting about.

Thanks again for all your messages - it feels really nice to have your support Flowers

@Mummagiles - yes, he can weight bear too which he is pleased about. Makes balancing much easier!

I'd be careful with baths even with the limbo cover. The one I had still managed to let a little bit of water in. I'd advise showering with a plastic chair!

Poor beggar, I've been there with foot fractures, it's a frustrating road to hobble.

Thanks @Damntheman, shower it is then
