Just reposting with a more sensible thread title in case the silly one put any cooking experts off.

A friend of my dh who likes to buy in bulk gave us this large bag of turkey meat, it was frozen in a big bag containing the 3 large boneless skinless breasts. It was so big I just (stupidly I now think). defrosted it on the side for 24 hours but now I am worried I should have defrosted it in the fridge. Do you think it will still be safe to eat if cooked properly?

I have now managed it get it in the fridge. If you do think it's safe I want to roast it then freeze some for later. I'm thinking each breast makes one meal for the family. If I separate the pieces, weigh separately and calculate the cooking time is that correct or will it still take longer if I cook it all together but in separate pieces iyswim. I was just going to smear with garlic butter then roast at 180 for 20mins per lb +20 mins like a chicken, will that be sufficient do you think? Lastly how would you go about freezing and reheating the meat I haven't done that before?

it will be fine - if not it will smell awful - only re-freeze if it has been cooked & only freeze & re-heat once

As above. It will probably cook quicker off the bone so keep checking it so it’s not overdone

Thanks it did smell a bit when I first opened it but seems to smell ok now could that just be the way it was packed? I can get dh to sniff it later too.
