Baby stuff - what to get new vs what to get second hand?

Would appreciate some guidance / opinions here. Expecting first baby and am a little bamboozled with all the options for just how much stuff the baby seems to need.

I’d like to get some of it second hand where possible, from a cost / environmental perspective. I’d assume I need to get new:
Mattress, car seat, bottles

But fine to get second hand stroller (with new insert things), baby bouncer, play mat, next-to-me thing (with a new mattress), also any clothes I’m fine to get second hand

Does that sound right? What else? I want to try reusable nappies, I’ve seen you can try before you buy which seems a bit gross.... but where to get these from?

Thanks in advance!

Because you said bottles, steriliser and perfect prep both second hand here.

High chair second hand.

Travel system like you say but inserts should be fine if you wash them.

Toys especially big ones as they grow. Eg jumperoo definitely second hand.

Not sure about nappies sorry.

Yes that all sounds perfect. You can get the nappies online just type into Google there will be sites dedicated to it! Not gross as can wash on hot wash and bleach fully. Look up Brad and rach on YouTube they used cloth nappies with twins and were mainly second hand.

Just looking around room here and cot also was my nieces, new mattress. Changing table was a friends.

I didn't get much new at all really. Other than what you have mentioned.

Remember people buy you bits as well, and often people offer things when you get closer to baby arriving.

I used second hand car seats that I'd sourced from a friend and knew the history of.

I have had three babies and hands down the best bit of equipment has been a bouncy chair.

And I would buy brand new as bodily fluids on them are common.

Get a nice comfy one that can be rocked.
The vibrate options have never been used with us they seemed odd. A baby doesn’t want to be vibrated, only rocked.
