Help me not be a bad friend! Sunday delivery ideas?

A very lovely friend who lives in a different part of the country is turning 40 today. For reasons I know she'd understand I have been dis-organised but trying to send flowers (or something anything) so that she receives them today.

Seems an impossible task? I thought I'd cracked it as I have amazon prime now but they don't deliver to her area. If you have any ideas I'd be really grateful!

Desperate but Argos does same day delivery but no idea if they do suitable gifts!

Google Sunday flower delivery same day or something?

frazzledasarock · 27/10/2019 08:34

Google florists in her area ring them up and ask if they’ll deliver to her today?

singtanana · 27/10/2019 08:34

Not quite the same but could you email her a voucher for a favourite restaurant or something? TBH, I’m sure if you wish her a happy birthday today and something arrives later in the week she won’t mind at all.

You could see if there are any independent cake shops/ cafes in her area and explain your situation and ask if they could deliver cake? Ours would comply Smile

GymSloth · 27/10/2019 08:36

Yes, several florists near me deliver on a Sunday. If you Google florists in her area you might find one that's open?

Or how about a voucher for something you could email her?

Some places would do you a voucher for a nice meal / afternoon tea etc you could email?

flonnie · 27/10/2019 08:45

Good idea to ring local florists, when I was doing desperate googling lots said same day delivery but then when I went to order the next available delivery slot was tomorrow. Hopefully some local florists open up soon

Thanks for the other suggestions too! Ideally I would have done it all online (hard of hearing) but it's my own fault for being so last minute

Might not be an option in a rural area but we have a local food service (like Deliveroo) who will pick up and deliver anything legal eg flowers within the hour

muddledmidget · 27/10/2019 09:07

If its a rural area and no deliveroo etc a local taxi driver might help you out by picking up a posh bunch from the supermarket and delivering them for you. You could even phone the supermarket and ask if they could wrap them ready for when the taxi arrives

homeworkery · 27/10/2019 09:28

Local cafe. Ask them to take her coffee and cakes with a gift voucher for the cost of afternoon tea and flowers if they can too

TimeIhadaNameChange · 27/10/2019 09:48

I live in a rural area with no Sunday deliveries. But I know the local taxi firm would be more than happy to pick something up from nearby and deliver it to me so I'd go with that idea.

flonnie · 27/10/2019 10:57

Grateful for the suggestions but I'd be just about ok on the phone if it's a standard service and an expected request with things like say booking a taxi but asking for something outwith usual service isn't the easiest for me as I struggle to check their understanding. I should have put that in my OP but I forget not everyone has to do most things online! I tried without success to call a florist. Not their fault not mine just one of those things. My friend will be ok with delayed flowers. Thanks anyway for all the suggestions

Could you find local florists on Facebook and then use messenger to ask if it’s possible? Then, if any day yes you can call with payment details. If They know to expect your call and are aware of that you are hard of hearing, this would hopefully make it easier all round?
