Do you sit in the dark to watch TV?

My DP has turned the light off again to watch TV. I hate sitting in the dark particularly at this time of year when the nights are getting longer. I just feel like I spend all my time in darkness (up at night due to hip and back pain/8 months pregnant).

What's everyone's preference? I just want the light on again Sad

Dh used to, I hate sitting in the dark to watch TV. Makes my eyes hurt after a while.

No. It hurts my eyes.

No! I hate the big lights with a passion but always have lamps and a couple of uplighters on.

My Dad always used to say my house was like an Operating theatre 😂🤣

I’m apparently one of the few MNers who turns in the ceiling light(s) & I’ve just ordered some brighter ones 🤣🤣

wall lights on

Haven't even put a centre light in my new lounge.

Kitchen is open plan though and can have very bright lights in there if need be

Ginfordinner · 27/10/2019 06:43

Spookily I like (and need) bright lights.

We sit in the dark but have a soft bias light behind the telly which makes the picture look better. And is supposed to reduce eye strain.
Big light only goes on when I need to actually find something

ExpletiveDEVILighted · 27/10/2019 06:51

We don't use the ceiling light but have an uplighter behind the sofa which gives off an equivalent amount of light but in a better position, so the room is fully lit for telly watching. I'd hate to sit in the dark and watch tv. If I watch in bed I always have my bedside light on.

I hate watching tv in the dark too. I like having the light on so I can flick through the paper or a magazine in the ad breaks.
