Ocado order HELP me fill the fridge!

MrBobLobLaw · 26/10/2019 19:30

DP, DS 2yo and I move this Thursday to our new place. I will be ridiculously pregnant by then (39+3 or something) so we want to order an Ocado delivery to arrive on Friday morning with which we can stock the fridge, freezer and cupboards for a little while whilst getting out is tricky. (Obviously we will be taking the food from our current home too but probably no freezer stuff).

Does anyone have any bright ideas of what to order please?!

I guess we'll need easy, no-faff food, not just because we'll be living in box hell but also cos I'm so fecking pregnant and baby2 will be arriving soon. DP and I eat anything but DS has the classic toddler diet of snacks and beige crap.

C'mon MN! DP has rudely gone out for the evening and I was looking forward to some good grub suggestions!

Fresh soups. I like Bol.

Baking potatoes-easy to bung in the oven and will wait for you. Tin of beans. Simple and nutritious.

I think for the freezer, I’d get some COOK meals.

I’ll think some more and come back to you

Ready made lasagne, garlic bread, frozen veg, jars of curry sauces, frozen chicken breasts, beef mince, sauces for chilli/bolognese, rice, pasta, cheese, butter, part baked bread, pizza, milk Smile

Amy's food range is nice. I am hungry again now Smile

Charlie Bigham pies are AMAZING! Get yourself some of them as easy meals that aren’t too crap.

Nice granola and Greek yoghurt for when you’re hungry and can’t be faffed cooking.

Fresh fruit.
Nice biscuits.

MrBobLobLaw · 26/10/2019 22:58

Thank you!

Love the idea about granola and Greek yogurt too, mostly cos it's vaguely healthy.. right?!
I'm a big fan of the Bingham pies already so they'll deffo be on the list too. Thanks @Sexnotgender

Haven't heard of Amy's good range @Wauden so I'll have to check it out. Anything you recommend particularly?

Good suggestion for baked potatoes @DobbyTheHouseElk, thank you! I've always been disappointed by COOK in the past, annoyingly so, because I really want to like it! But they're always just a bit lacking in flavour for me.. and I've tried lots of their different meals. Will have to try the BOL soups too, I've seen them in the shops before but haven't purchased so this will be a good opportunity.

Soli ravioli. 2 for a fiver, butternut and sage especially good. I like it with a tomato and mascarpone sauce from a jar. Ready in five minutes and delicious. Bag of leaves on the side.

Higgidy quiches
Picard lasagne
Fish cakes
Free and Easy 3 bean chilli
Free and Easy chickpea tagine
Look What We Found Lamb Hotpot

Wauden · 27/10/2019 09:59

'Amy's' range all good, free of additives. The sweet potato Shepherd's pie is good.
Frozen fruit as I find I don't waste fruit that way.

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 27/10/2019 11:14

Are you moving your freezer? When we moved, I was surprised to find that we could leave our stuff in the freezer and just plug it back in at the other end.

MrBobLobLaw · 27/10/2019 12:53

Thank you everyone for the further suggestions!
Going to add them to the shopping list now.

We're leaving our fridge freezer @SomethingNastyInTheBallPool (great name!) as where we're moving to has a swanky integrated one Grin and a roll top bath which this pregnant lady is desperate to lie in but good to know for the future!

Breaded fish/chicken etc - so easy with some boiled potatoes/veg or salad

Nice pastas & sauces can be easily frozen & super quick & easy to cook.

Pizzas

Lasagna/cottage pie - not what you'd want all the time but when baby comes a lot of the ready meals can be frozen & then are easy to cook.

Soups & par-bakes baguettes also good for freezer

Definitely not the best but again for occasional times of need canned meals like ravioli or meat stew type things also might be good as a backup. Cans of tuna & sweetcorn or other veg - also super easy with pasta

:) good luck with move & new baby!!!
