How much do you pay each month to heat your home?

I've finally caved and put the central heating on. I've got washing hanging up and I don't want it going all musty smelling when it's dried.

I usually pay around £70 a month. I live in a 2 bedroom ground floor Victorian flat. Ironically they just reduced my payments to £30 a month but it'll go back up now the heating's on for winter.

I'm curious to what other people pay,, what kind of place they live in and how many people in the home. My place is poorly insulated and a lot escapes outside, which is huge pain in the arse. I have high ceilings too. I was paying more to heat this place than my DB who was in a 4 bed detached with heating on constantly (new baby).

I live alone mostly (apart from when my DH visits from abroad for a few months) and feel like I spend so much on heating compared to others.

I'll look into that, thanks @Koloh! My DH has asthma as well and often struggles.

Do you just run the dehumidifier when you've done laundry? My place is pretty damp after I've had a shower, should probably get a fan fitted in the bathroom as well.

Mine has a sensor so it clicks on when the air gets too damp and clicks off when it's back to normal. I set the sensor to 50. In practice this means it runs until the clothes hanging above it are mostly dry and then turns itself off automatically (unless it turns off because it's full). You can turn it on and off manually as well, though, I think.

I pay £99 a month with co-op duel fuel. Electric is our biggest expense, but then something is always on.

Been told my DD needs to increase to £106 a month now, even though its meant to be fixed till 2021.

That sounds ideal! Will investigate :-)

£30 a month gas which covers heating, hot water and hob in a 2 bedroom flat built around 1930. We live in Scotland so temps have been as low as -15 but are regularly below zero.

Obviously use very little gas in the summer but the house is always really warm in the winter.

£160 a month -oil.

195 a month, 4 bed detached with four reception rooms,

5 bed 1970s converted bungalow with limited insulation in the conversion (on my list of things to sort!) £87 electric on DD and we have oil fired central heating (new efficient boiler which has helped) so put 500L of heating oil in every 6-8 weeks over winter, at about £250 a time. Dont use it May-Sept but are in north so quite cold. For context, we moved into this house 6 years ago and at that time it was £120 roughly for 500L - huge price change in relatively short time

Two bed new build flat in SE. I pay 12 pounds a month in summer and up to 34 a month in winter. That's for heating and hot water. No gas. I only turn on heating when I need it.

Electricity is 33 a month. I am terrible for leaving lights on.

£40 a month for heating oil...i find it very economical.
