Fundraising/Raising awareness for a charity - can anyone help me work out logistics please?

I have a basic idea of helping raise funds/awareness for a small local charity but not sure how/if it's going to work.

I want to leave handmade flowers about the place with a message attached for people to take and keep. I've thought about attaching information about the charity and possibly a request to donate a £ to the charity. However, I don't know the first thing about how online donations work - what kind of admin fee would the charity have to pay? Is it going to be more of a hassle for them to be receiving £1 donations?

I need some help developing my idea please. Is it possible to raise funds and awareness or should I just focus on one or the other.

For a £1 donation surely they would just pay cash? Where would these flowers be? Can you have a collection box?

Raising awareness and money together is definitely possible. Are you fundraising for a particular project? What is your target amount? Have you explored all grant options?

I was planning to leave single flowers anonymously around the place so there wouldn't be a collection box and not necessarily an expectation to make a donation. I got the initial idea from a FB group who do something similar but without a charity awareness/fund raising element - the makers share their makes and the finders share their finds...seems to be well-received from the volume of posts in the group.

I have a charity in mind but no target. I'm not directly involved with the charity - a very close friend receives support from them and that's why I'd like to do something. This is my version of running a half marathon - I definitely couldn't do that!!

How small is the charity? If you are going to do something in their name it's best to ask to speak to someone in their fundraising team who can help you, if they are big enough for that. If they are very small they might have access to other support. Because you're putting their name on it and collecting money you need to be sure you follow all the rules.

I was planning to contact them with my idea but wanted to work it all out before I approached them with any of it.
It is quite a small charity and I'm not 100% if the have a fundraising team...I'll investigate.
