Sanitary towels

(Tell me if there is a better place to post this - I know we get weirdo trolls posting about poo so we probably do about periods too, I just can't see a better section)

Can you recommend me a sanitary towel brand please?

I'm not ready to make the switch to reusable for a number of reasons, mainly that ive just come off the injections and am flooding heavily during periods at the moment.

I don't want to use Always any more, and I'd like a more environmentally friendly disposable if such a thing exists. Must be able to cope with HEAVY flow.

Suggestions please?

I use Bodyform pads, mostly the night time ones to cope with my heavy flow. They also make a larger than night time size, but they are not as easy to find in the shops. Bodyform pads are frequently on offer for £1 a pack in Wilko and Sainsbury's so I stock up on them then.

I use ultra slim maternity pads now from Boots.

Natracare are very good. Plastic free perfume free chlorine free and organic cotton cover.

Watching with interest and definitely going to try the period pants.

Always are awful. They stink and give me thrush. I’ve switched to Bodyform, which aren’t perfumed and have eliminated the thrush, but they aren’t as absorbent enough for me. I have to wear a tampon AND pad and change both every 2 hours. It’s a pain.

I didn’t get on with various menstrual cups. They really irritated me, which is a shame as in theory they sound great.

Period pants next on the list to try. Think they sound less faff than reusable pads (can’t bear the thoughts of carrying used ones around in my bag all day).

I have washable ones but the first two days of my period are really heavy and they just aren't practical when out and about so I use natracare or Kind organic - both are plastic free, comfortable and the heavy flow ones work for me - it's a compromise I'm happy with.
Holland and Barratt, local eco stores, online or some larger Boots sell them

Bodyform with wings in the blue pack

Eleanorbellanor · 26/10/2019 14:09

I like the Bodyform ones. I have packs in different sizes so some for nighttime and some for the day. They’re great and fairly cheap as well and they’re always doing offers on them

blahblahblahblahhh · 26/10/2019 14:13

I use a menstrual cup now but previously switched from always to boots own brand or Aldi own brand. They were brilliant.

Marmite27 · 26/10/2019 14:13

I switched from always to bodyform a few years ago. They’re much nicer.

I was using an old bag and caught short at the beginning of a period last week. The only thing in there was always. They were horribly itchy and bizarrely sweaty. I’ll be checking all my other bags this week!

Boots own brand are pretty good.
But I second the Thinx knickers. Expensive and you'll need 2 or 3 pairs cos they take a while to dry after being washed.

Have you considered aa cup?
