European city with DC - unusual recommendations welcomed

I'm looking for half term end of Feb. Having looked at flight/hotel deals I can do a few nights to many places under £800 for all of us.

Tempted by Florence. I think DC will enjoy wondering around pretty sights, they always love hotel stays, tiny manageable bit of art, lots of pizza and pasta. But they could also be bored.

I looked at all the main cities but there might be lesser known destinations that could work.

we have just come back from 5 days in Amsterdam. We stayed in Zaandam which is 12 minutes on the metro into Amsterdam and 20 minutes from the airport. Even with the added cost of a travel card, it was still cheaper than staying in central Amsterdam. There were several hotels within 5 minutes walk of the metro station.
It was an expensive holiday though because of the exchange rate.
There were plenty of musuems and galleries, the attractions you get in most major cities like Tussards and Dungeons.
We would definitely go again

We went to Malaga, Granada and Córdoba last February mid term. Weather was beautiful 18-20 degrees in the afternoon. We went skiing for a day in the Sierra Nevada 45 minutes from Granada. Fantastic holiday 😃

Bilbao. Fair bit of culture, lovely food and drink, very walkable. Only downside may be the weather.

Palms is a lovely compact city. Rome just because it's Rome and if you don't mind the cold Krakow is beautiful in winter

Geneva (or France next door)? Could go skying there too.

I second Budapest for its baths.

We are in Vilnius in Lithuania right now and really enjoying it. Very compact, historic, walkable, some interesting museums, plenty for kids. And much less expensive than western Europe.
