What happens if you have a Nytol but don’t have time for 8 hours’ sleep?

I’m sure I read somewhere that if you take a Nytol but don’t have time for a good eight hours of sleep (let’s say you have to wake after only six hours), then you spend the first few hours of the morning desperately groggy. Is that right?

@SoyDora thanks for that, I’m on 440mg but don’t dare take anymore as it gives me a dodgy tummy. Pleased it works for you!

Theonlyliving boy and SoyDora can you let me know the exact make and type and dosage of magnesium that seems to be working for you please as I know there are lots of different types eg glycinate, orotate etc. and would love to know the one that works best for sleep.

Thanks

Bump 're the magnesium please! Nytol doesn't work for me at all. I've had sleep issues for such a long time.

Thanks for magnesium info. I assume it doesn't work like a sleeping tablet, I've noticed some vitamins that have magnesium in them so if I take it in the morning I won't suddenly fall asleep will I!

Nitol makes me super groggy as does night nurse but we are all different.

AnnaNimmity · 25/10/2019 12:29

I sleep better if I take magnesium at night (with all of my other perimenopausal vitamins which may or may not help) but that could just be coincidence.

I am currently taking bog standard Holland and Barrett magnesium, 1 x 250mg tablet each night. But your best bet is to go into a local independent health shop and ask for advice; they're usually very knowledgeable.

It will be fine. I take it and often manage just 4 hours sleep on it. I am no more tired than I would have been if I didn't take it.

It worked well for a while, but I think too used to it now.
