Kitchen walls

We're finally getting a new kitchen. The existing one wasn't new when we moved in 29 years ago. We've bought it from Magnet and they are doing the installation. But it's just occurred to me that there will be walls and bits of walls that won't have units of tiles, so what do we put there? At the moment it's got like painted woodchip paper which is so dated.

units OR tiles

Simplest is just to strip the wood chip, make good the wall, and then paint with a moisture resistant kitchen paint to complement the colour of your floor/units/worktops, OP.
I had a peach and cream colour scheme in mind when I did my new kitchen/diner 3 years ago, with copper features such as lamps, bin and kettle.
The walls above the units are a warm pastel peach, the units are a very pale (almost white) cream and the floor is aged farmhouse style pale terracotta tiling.
I’ve seen kitchen walls painted a sunny pale yellow, which helps to lighten a dark room, or an eye catching deep dark colour to contrast white units, or anything in between. Get your colour chart out and go for it, OP!

Thanks Babdoc, that sounds good. When I googled kitchen wallpaper, there was nothing plain that could be painted, so your suggestion sounds great.
I guess the main problem would be making good the wall. I'm quite ham-fisted and slapdash, so I might be better getting a professional in.
Your kitchen sounds lovely BTW - fresh and light but calming and welcoming too.
