WWYD? Interview/potential job offer

I had an interview for a new job earlier in the week. It went well, in that I feel I gave strong answers and managed to get across the key points I wanted to regarding my experience. But the whole time, I had a very 'off' feeling about the manager holding the interview. I still can't quite put my finger on exactly what it was, but there was something about her I just took an instant dislike to and a very strong sense that she isn't someone I'd want to spend much time around. She would be my department manager if I got the job.

I should hear from her by the end of the week. If I'm offered the job, do I take it, as it's better pay than I currently get, for slightly less hours. Or do I listen to my gut instinct and turn it down? I'm torn between thinking its irrational to turn it down based on a first impression formed over 20 minutes, and thinking I had that feeling for a reason and should steer clear.

WWYD? I'm kind of hoping I don't even get an offer then the decision is out of my hands!

It’s easy to say trust your instinct, I mean whenever I haven’t the job has indeed been a disaster.

But how much do you need a job/ need to move jobs?

I think it depends if you need the job.
If you don't need it, and it would just be nice to get, I think you should trust your gut. You've got to spend more time with this woman than you would with your family.

I would really like to leave my current job, however there are often similar positions I could try for. It's not a 'this job or nothing' situation. Its retail based so just a bit tricky this time of year as everyone seems geared towards finding xmas temps rather than permanent supervisor roles!

If you want the job take the job. I didn't have a good feeling about the interviewer for my current job, he's very matter of fact and doesn't do fluffy stuff, our personalities are very different, he doesn't joke much which I struggle with, but I work with him fine and he's always there when I need to ask him for something.

There is nothing worse in a job than a bad manager, but you could be losing out on a great opportunity based on a very small inclination.

we have gut instincts for a reason, listen to yours
