My daughter (9) has had this virus for nearly 4 years now. I know that it will eventually go on it’s own but I feel over the past months, it’s just got worse and worse. Can anyone advise on best course of action please? I’m at my wits end!

We used Bazuka. Got rid of it beautifully in about week. My son had it really bad in his armpit and back.

BuffOrpingtonChicken · 21/10/2019 23:09

*a week

RoseMartha · 21/10/2019 23:13

take her to the Gp. I had to with my dc . Dr gave us some cream on prescription. They stay about for ages and it does feel like they will never go. Four years seems excessive time though.

Molludab on prescription worked well for us, with fusidic acid on those that has already burst. Took about 2 weeks to clear. It did hurt, apparently, but was bearable for a 6 year old.

LolaDabestest · 21/10/2019 23:35

My 4 year old has it, I bought some lemon Myrtle off amazon you mix it with olive oil and the spots are clearing after a couple of uses molludab is a waste of time.

WallyWallyWally · 22/10/2019 06:33

After two years of “leaving it to go” we had great success with molludab. Used it religiously every night to dry up big bumps and zap tiny ones before they got started. Put plasters over any that might burst during the day. We used a torch at an angle to spot any new ones. It took a while.

flowerycurtain · 22/10/2019 06:53

Another molludab fan here. Brilliant stuff.

WallyWallyWally · 22/10/2019 07:57

Btw we bought molludab off amazon rather than prescription.

Hoppinggreen · 22/10/2019 07:58

Molludab from Amazon
Worked for us

AuntImmortelle · 22/10/2019 08:01

Yup molludab off amazon too. I left them but also suddenly there appeared to be loads coming and DD was getting stressed about it. They went after about two weeks.

Fairylea · 22/10/2019 08:06

Molludab from Amazon. But - it does really hurt. We ended up having to stop using it on Ds aged 7 because it was so painful for him none of us could stand it anymore. So the spot is slowly coming back again Sad but I can imagine if you have a child who is prepared to put up with it to get rid of them it would definitely work.

Thecrown3 · 22/10/2019 08:06

Molludab from GP was only thing that worked truly.
Also changing pjs and towels every day as it can spread through towels etc
Ds has it for 2 years and eventually they were all over arms and trunk and had two big spots get infected. After seeing one GP in the early days who said leave it, after 18 months second GP saw infected ones and prescribed, within 2 weeks it was gone.
Don’t bother with the Amazon tea tree, lemon myrtle etc.

LolaDabestest · 22/10/2019 08:36

Yeah don't bother with lemon Myrtle the naturalist remedy over molludab a commercialised acid that hurts 🙄 honestly I've had two kids over the years that had it and used molludab everyday for months with no joy. 2 applications of lemon Myrtle and they cleared. Molludab can be bought over the counter and on amazon etc it is not a prescribed medicine which says everything.
So pp having a dig there do your research.

Damntheman · 22/10/2019 09:30

Go to the GP. My son needed steroid cream and a strong moisturiser to get rid of his after 2 years.

Smellybluecheese · 22/10/2019 10:17

We used molludab on my DD. Had to do it three separate times for 2 weeks at a time as spots kept coming back but they are all gone now. It has left some scarring where she had big ones on her back though.

LollzyBum · 22/10/2019 10:34

Thanks all! I’ve tried molludab before but she found it quite painful, it did work for a few months but they soon came back more aggressively. I’ve got her in with the GP today so let’s see what they say! I’m not taking “leave them” as an answer!

My dd had this for a couple of years and I recall them getting suddenly much worse before disappearing, so hopefully this will be the same for you. I seem to recall reading that this is a thing, at the time. Good luck!

DisappointingBanana · 22/10/2019 17:47

I dabbed neat tee tree oil on my DDs once or twice a day.
They disappeared after a week or two.
I thoroughly recommend it.

4 years of them is Shock

Good luck!

sourpuss1 · 22/10/2019 17:53

Molludab cleared my son's within weeks and he had over 100

Oblomov19 · 22/10/2019 17:57

Molludab. I picked off the head so that it could get it. Yes it stung. But that stinging then prompts the body to fight. Or do I've heard.

I think it's worth it. The minor sting that is.

Gp and hcp's advice of just 'let it run its course' makes me cross. Because clearly for lots, it doesn't work, or not quickly enough.

obviouslymarvellous · 22/10/2019 18:01

Australian tea tree antiseptic cream - a woman in Holland and Barrett recommended it to me and it was amazing! Within 2 weeks my dd's legs were much better (the ones back of her knees had disappeared) they have never come back either ! X

paw1977 · 22/10/2019 18:09

Tea tree oil cream for both mine and it cleared it up quickly

DragonflyInn · 22/10/2019 18:53

DD had it for about 9 months. A dab of tea tree oil on each spot cleared them. Had to be vigilant for a while - even once they’d all gone she had a new patch start appearing but the t tree stopped them completely in their tracks.
