Wwyd, kitten and going on holiday in 5 weeks!

We’re adopted a kitten. She’s currently 9 weeks old and we go away in 5 weeks! What do we do? I’m guessing she’s too young for a cattery?

Can whoever you got it from take her back and you get her after your holiday? Can a family member or friend take it while you're away

Any family members or friends who can have her?

Obvious question but why did you adopt a kitten so soon before you go away?

Darksideofthemoon19 · 21/10/2019 17:25

It wasn’t by choice, she kind of just landed in our life.

I’m going to ask around 😩

We went on holiday when we had fairly young kittens, I paid a cat sitter, she came twice a day and spent some time with them as well as feeding and cleaning the litter tray. Worked well.

Alternative to a cattery would be a cat sitter coming in but they're a bit young to be left for a long time. I left my 2 with my sister when they were small and now they're older i use a cat sitter

Try and find a house sitter who also looks after pets and will commit to spending a few hours a day with her.

A 9 week old kitten without a playmate isn't ideal full stop. Can you ask a local rescue for a friend for her and maybe see if they'll foster both of them while you're away. If you explain how she came to you, they should help you.

Blingandrings · 21/10/2019 19:59

Cat sitter is the answer. I think a rescue or cattery would traumatise her. Or do you have friends or relatives who could have her?

cometothinkofit · 21/10/2019 20:00

I don't think catteries usually take kittens at that age. You need a pet sitter.

WomensRightsAreContraversial · 21/10/2019 20:01

Do you have a friendly neighbour who would feed twice a day and change litter tray?

Amicompletelyinsane · 21/10/2019 20:01

If you start vaccines now it could be fully sorted by 5 weeks so a cattery would take it

Bluerussian · 21/10/2019 20:37

Will your vet look after her? My vet has looked after a couple of my cats, didn't charge much either. They were very well cared for.
