New kitchen. What do I or don't I need?

I know there was an excellent thread a year or so ago. If anyone can link it, I'd be grateful!

We moved into a new build show flat with a very badly designed, cheapest possible kitchen. DH has just suggested we replace it with an Ikea one Grin

What do I need to think about?
What do we need?
Cupboards vs drawers?

What are appliances from Ikea like?

How solid are their worktops?

I realise that sounds daft! The dishwasher is connected, but there are no sockets.

I like the bar as it hides the kitchen from the dining table. We sometimes sit at it to chat to the person who is cooking. Generally it is covered in post, phones and random crap.

The ceiling is almost 5m over kitchen and slopes down over the dining table.

Somewhere (near the sink) to hang the tea towel and hand towel.
good point. Ours currently hangs on the oven and falls on the floor every time I open the oven door...

I more meant you could put sockets etc there as there is an electricity supply there, pop up socket?

I’ve got an angly thing that means both bits of the corner are filled with square shelves which cunningly slide out when you open the door.

We have those too but you do lose a lot of the space, wide drawers hold so so so much more per cm2
