eBay...what will happen

I wonder if anyone can help. I bought a doll from eBay couple of weeks ago for dd birthday. Item was advertised as UK stock and coming from London and would be here in 3-5 days, delivery was £15. Anyway ordered the doll which was £95 and 16 days later still not here, so misses dd birthday.
Item then arrives on 17 days with postal tags clearly showing it has come from China and is nothing like what I ordered and looks completely different. I have contacted seller who said if I revise feedback they will refund just £20. I want to return for full refund. Can I do this?
Thanks

Ring eBay. Did you open a case to say it hadn't arrived when expected?

helloimanewie · 19/10/2019 07:15

Yes opened a case to say has t arrived but now it has arrived and I can't change reason, I'm worried eBay will see it has arrived and close case. I didn't know you could ring eBay I'll have a look and do that. Thanks

Contact eBay
I bought a phone that was advertised as UK seller ... Came from.china, phone software was Chinese, return address was China. Different to the address on the listing. eBay refunded and the money and I binned the phone lol

Refunded the money*

MintyT · 19/10/2019 07:58

Do t worry keep contacting the seller. Tell them you want to return it for a full refund they offer silly solutions, keep on for a full refund for about 3 emails. Then tell them you will leave a bad review and open a dispute with eBay. Within about 24 hours you will be offered a refund ( normally they will say remove bad feedback then they will refund- you say I will once I have my money, but don't ) you will get refunded don't worry

YeOldeTrout · 19/10/2019 08:07

Should not tell them you will leave bad review, it's called feedback extortion is against Ebay rules

Do I understand right that OP has left feedback without asking for a refund first? This is bad form, too, but not against rules.

You need a Not as Described case. Write simple explanation for why it's not at all what it was advertised as.

SunshineAngel · 19/10/2019 08:09

You should indeed get your money back if the item is not as described, and also they shouldn't be shipping from China and saying the item is in the UK.

Hi would message seller again explain u want to return item for full refund if that doesn't work call eBay , explain item arrived late and u want to return it . They are usually very helpful explain the item arrived from China not uk as advertised.

TreaclePumpkin · 19/10/2019 10:05

Did you open a case via PayPal or eBay? If you've tried one, do the other. Alternatively, you can call them to explain the reason for needing to change the reason for the case already opened. If not paid by PayPal, can likely also get a refund by complaining to your bank and getting a chargeback on your bank card.

Open an item not as described case on eBay instead and can close the item not received case. You can even upload photos as proof.

Doesn’t matter if the item is from China. First of all, the seller should have had a UK address, especially for returns, done at will look dimly on this. Secondly they are liable for return postage here, so if they insist on it being returned to China they will have to pay out of pocket themselves.

Ebay may even refund you themselves if the seller doesn’t engage.

Lhastingsmua · 19/10/2019 10:36

** ebay will look dimly on this.

GiantGerbil · 19/10/2019 23:49

Yes, you have the right to a full refund since the doll isn't as described. If the seller won't back down, wait until you can get Ebay involved. They will definitely side with you.

By the way, even if the doll had been as described, you could still ask for a full refund because it didn't come from the UK as advertised (though for a more expensive item, the seller may ask you to send it back). I actually managed to negotiate a full refund from a seller once just because the item had come from Singapore, not the UK as advertised. It was a cheap item and the seller didn't even want it returned.
