Depends on what you like to do,

There are Roman walking tours you can book on but equally you can walk around the walls of the city yourselves. It's not too long a walk in total but you could make it last a day as there's plenty of steps down along the route so you can visit places like Chester cathedral, the river Dee which has boats you can hire if the weather is kind and some nice places to have a drink/people watch. You can also access the canals, grosvenor park, the race course, the shopping main streets and the Roman amphitheater. There are history plaques dotted about the walls on the way round. That's probably what I'd suggest if you wanted to see a good portion of the city.

You could have afternoon tea at the Chester grosvenor if you wanted to go down the fancy route, equally there are lots of lovely little eateries all depends on what you fancy!

Ooh that sounds like a really good suggestion about walking the walls, sounds like we'd see a lot that way.

Go up on the Rows. They're an outdoor second level to the shops in the centre. The date back to Roman times. The shops are quite varied but it's just a novel experience. It won't take long, just worth going up to see.

It's a really small city, you'll see most in a day. Only bad bit really is the hill coming back up from the Groves, down by the river!

It's very photogenic so bring your camera/charge your phone well.

The Rows are Medieval, built over the remains of Roman buildings.

The Old Harkers Arms

Circular route nearby Chester Train Station, on the canal side, afterwards walk the canal to get on Chester Wall besides the Cathedral. Walk the Walls to the old Dee Bridge, have a drink at The Bear & Billet, then stop off at the Clock Tower for a photo! Then back to the cathedral, canal to the The Old Harkers Arms for dinner!
