Daft thing to do as there is no single mumps vaccine so you'll be left unprotected against mumps

NellyMatrass · 15/11/2019 21:47

@dietcokemum
I was asking for people who had this single vaccine..

Looks like everyone here is too sensible.

NellyMatrass · 15/11/2019 23:06

@dietcokemum i know there is no single mumps vaccine now and it wasnt my question.. im not an anti vacc either but some ppl rather go for this than mmr if they experienced problems in the past.

Is this the MR vaccine given in India? If yes then you need to understand why the SII have this vaccine instead of the MMR - it’s not because the MMR is less safe. It’s because in India, their biggest market, people (particularly poor / uneducated) are still suspicious about vaccinations and even more so about MMR after the false research published in the US. The MR was tactically created to ensure kids get vaccinated against the two biggest causes of neonatal disability in India. Also, in India, most adults do end up getting mumps as kids and so you don’t have the same impact to male fertility as in other countries.

MMR is the safest option for your child if you are in the UK.

WiseUpJanetWeiss · 16/11/2019 11:35

Can’t understand why you’d willingly give a child an unlicensed medicine that’s made in a country with far less stringent medicines manufacturing standards than the EEA.

NellyMatrass · 16/11/2019 14:41

@WiseUpJanetWeiss because he had side effects in the past that affected him for over a year. Now that hes older abit and measles are around i need to vaccinate him but im scared of any vaccine if im honest i just gt into a position where i dont know what to do and going thru my options. Its not that i just decided to give him the jab if he never had side effects i would of never thought about single jabs.

That must be very worrying for you. It’s a difficult decision to make because you don’t know what caused the reaction. I honestly don’t know what I’d do in your circumstances. Flowers

Does the doctor think that his symptoms were due to the MMR?

NellyMatrass · 16/11/2019 19:51

@WiseUpJanetWeiss it is :( im just going to have to decide soon tbh and hope for the best.

OP posts:
NellyMatrass · 16/11/2019 19:54

@BertrandRussell when we was hospitalised they didint know what caused him to go thru what he went thru. That was when he was 16 months old.. they said sometimes things happen in kids that are never explained.. so no clear answers from doctors from b4 or gps now :(

Nelly - if he's had one MMR already, he may be immune. You can have a blood test to determine if he is.

Otherwise, there is little clinical difference between the measles vaccines currently available in the UK. Just go with the one that the clinic nearest to you offers. But, if you have a boy you really don't want him to be left unprotected from mumps.

Grimbles · 16/11/2019 19:56

Bertrand. OPs son hasnt had the MMR at all

Grimbles · 16/11/2019 20:01
