What is this? And what do I do with it?
Apparently its some kind of soft cheese.
I have no clue

It is from Waitrose no less. DH brought it home and expects me to conjure up some dinner with it.
Im mystified.. please send help...

I don't particularly like it but DD1 loves it. Chop it up and add it to a tomato based pasta sauce?

Chewbecca · 16/10/2019 18:42

Yum

It is like mozzarella but a bit tastier and sloppier and runnier in the middle.

It is often served as a starter with some perfect toms, maybe some light pesto, sometimes something like roasted peach segments.

sayanything · 16/10/2019 18:43

Make a tomato sauce with lots of garlic, let it melt slightly in it and eat it with bread. Yum.

ItsJustTheOneSwanActually · 16/10/2019 18:43

Caprese salad...if you have the ingredients.

LIZS · 16/10/2019 18:44

It is a soft creamy mozzarella. Use it as you might mozzarella , tasty in salad with roasted veg/tomato/olives or on top of pasta.

yellowsun · 16/10/2019 18:44

Scoff it with some crusty bread. Love it!

ArtistOfTheFloatingWorld · 16/10/2019 18:46

It is food of the gods. I think it's mozzarella but the centre is strips of mozzarella mixed with cream... So you get this delicious soft creamy mozarellery mess of goodness. I agree with crusty bread and maybe some tomatoes, with really good extra virgin olive oil....I am so jealous

onetimeonlyy · 16/10/2019 18:51

Yum it's delicious just with good tomatoes, basil, salt, olive oil and bread - maybe some nice olives too

Keepingthingsinteresting · 16/10/2019 20:49

Do not melt it- that would be sacrilege! On top of the tomato salad, gently break open with fork & spoon, allow to ooze, drizzle with pesto of tapenade & eats with warm bread. So delicious...

Xiaoxiong · 16/10/2019 23:15

I like a big plate of warm griddled courgettes, burrata on top, olive oil, salt and fresh mint torn all over. Eat with focaccia or crusty bread.

Also you can do roasted beetroot, sliced while still warm, burrata on top, basil dressing or pesto let down with a bit of olive oil, toasted pine nuts. Mmmm.

HoldMyLobster · 16/10/2019 23:31

First you should bow down and worship it.

Then eat it with tomatoes, bread, olive oil and maybe some pepper.

I want burrata now.

IHaveBrilloHair · 16/10/2019 23:32

Oh my.
Just eat it now.
Then buy more for the recipe or whatever.

MrsTishellsNeckBrace · 16/10/2019 23:45

Warm french bread, aged rich balsamic vinegar, warmed figs, truffle olive oil, preferred seasonings.

Chewbecca · 17/10/2019 14:16

What did you do with it OP and did you enjoy?

For those now wanting it, I spotted it in Waitrose this morning in their relaunched One range so it also has 20% off at the mo.

Gimmechipschocolateandcake · 17/10/2019 14:23

It's a bloody cheese

ZuzuMyLittleGingersnap · 17/10/2019 14:41

Gratuitous burrata appreciation right here, OP:
Grin

ShivD · 17/10/2019 14:52

It’s great in a salad with Rocket, fresh figs and balsamic/ olive oil. You could add prosciutto if you eat meat too. Delicious 😋

InOtterNews · 17/10/2019 15:00

Burrata is made with cream so much richer (and more delicious than mozzarella imho). I often eat simply with some prosciutto and sliced peaches/nectarine/figs and some rocket - most of these are out of season now :( Alternative would beetroot and rocket salad or something like roasted asparagus and gremolata

FFSnotanotherone · 17/10/2019 15:08

Don't fucking waste it on a sauce! Bloody hell.

Griddle/toast bread with olive oil. Top with pesto. Fresh tomato. Burrata.

CruCru · 17/10/2019 15:57

To be fair, I’d be quite annoyed if I was presented with an ingredient I didn’t know much about and expected to produce a dinner based on it.

I would like burrata in a tomato and avocado salad with salt and pepper.

Roussette · 17/10/2019 16:23

I just find it tasteless. Like a blob of cream with a skin on.

BarbaraofSeville · 17/10/2019 16:46

It only serves 1, with nice bread and tomatoes, so what is he having?

RoseyOldCrow · 17/10/2019 16:56

Let it come to room temperature before you eat it, the better to appreciate its heavenly deliciousness.

Twix42 · 17/10/2019 17:35

Thanks for all the suggestions... we wnded up sharing it as a kind of starter with some sourdough bread, olive oil, sun dried tomatoes, pesto and olives . And lots of wine :) was yummy Grin Would eat it again...
