Denied 15 hours nursery...

has found it difficult to get the full 15 hours entitlement out of their nursery

DS is in a N England based Nursery and they refuse to honour the full 15 hours, despite attendance in excess of 9 sessions a week, i.e. 3 mornings and 3 afternoons.

Are they allowed to do this?

How do you mean now, they are offering the free hours at very specific times or suchlike?

They can limit the sessions it is applied to , ie. Mornings only 9-12 , although many are more flexible. Your council should have a list of those offering ey funded hours.

If it’s a private nursery I believe that some ask that your child attends a certain number of paid hours in order to get the “free” 15 hours. This is because the Government only pay the nursery £4.00 per hour per child and not the nursery’s full hourly rate so the nursery would lose out if your child only attends for 15 hours. They would lose money or would need to ask you to pay the difference.

You could get your child into a council nursery, some of them do full days or let you pay for more hours.
