What do your kids do/play after school?

DD9 and DS8 almost.

I’ve looked at some after school clubs for them but that will probably be one day a week.
Apart from that they play board games and enjoy lego, love to read but don't seem that interested in much else.
When the weather’s good they play out lots but now it’s changing I’m not sure what would keep them busy... they start getting silly or annoying each other which comes from being bored I guess.

Generally I don’t let them on devices after school because I find them too addictive, for DS in particular.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Mine do a sports club / music lesson or have paydates most days, such is our life now! Before or after those they'll watch TV, play in the garden, or some kind of game at home.
I fully admit to using the TV as a prop to stop them killing each other when they're bored Grin

There never seems to be much time to get bored here...

We arrive home from school at about half 3, eat dinner at about half 5 most nights and start getting ready for bed at 7 -- ages 7 and 10.

Monday -- DD theatre club 4.30 to 5.30pm
Tuesday -- DS and DD Cubs 6.45 to 8.15pm
Thursday -- DD after school choir, DS has a friend over to play

Apart from that they read, play with toys, play/fight with each other, spend time with pets, watch or play on tablets or TV. Occasionally someone might pop round to visit or we might pop out to visit someone or go for a walk.

If we're not doing anything else they're both generally content with some down time until dinner really.

Homework
Read school book
Spellings
Half hour playing
Dinner
Bath
Tele or Lego or crafts or whatever he wants for an hour
Bedtime routine, pjs toilet drink toilet again drink again toilet again cuddles
Bed

He does no after school clubs despite us trying multiple times to get him to join all manner of things

Sometimes we gotta pop to see the grandparents / shops ect on these days everything's compacted into shorter times

Its shit really. I live for the holidays & weekends l where everything doesnt have time limits and my kids can be children.

I would cut the homework out if I could, sometimes it can take hours up of the week his school demand 4 x 30mins of reading every day (year 4) and expect us to write in books the time started and ended. I refuse this though.

Bed time is 6.30-7 for youngest and 9 year old between 8 & 8.30.

Thanks for the replies.

I do find the time really short. I don’t mind tv or the laptop and have used it in the past but I guess for me it’s getting the balance right.

They have toys and play figures but hardly seem to want to play with them 🤷‍♀️.

Dd (Yr 3) - its a mix of afterschool stuff (swimming, Beavers etc), playing with Lego/Playmobil, little bit of reading, homework, recorder practice etc.

No tv/ipad as we've just always had that rule on school days.

Its hard if they don't play with toys. Dd would shut herself away with a million tiny pieces of Lego and Playmobil every night if she could!

my 5 year old has football two nights and swimming one night. my 12 year old has boxing three nights and goes to youth club on a thursday. other than that the youngest plays with lego, watches tv, plays in the garden. my eldest plays out with friends most days or is on the playstation.
