At what age do they stop getting sick bugs?

I mean as a regular, every fucking autumn/winter, several times? 😩

DD is 7, a child in her class was sick all over her today. I'm fully expecting her to come down with it now, probably her younger sibling too.

My mum used to say that when they get older they just don't get bugs as much. When?! Is this true? Please tell me it's true!

I know there's far worse things but I really, really don't need this atm 🙁

Dunno.

I work with young adults with LD and if one gets it, they all come down with it.

Maybe it's more to do with the environment than the ages?

Germs transfered on shared toys/pens/equipment?

It's so grim, I can deal with colds but sick bugs really freak me out.

They do seem to be a young child thing? I don't remember having a sick bug throughout all of secondary school. And again as an adult. The first time I had one was at 25, caught from baby DD after taking her to a baby group.

How long is a piece of string?

I got them until I was about 14 and then again when I went to university but then I have a crap immune system.

At work people with children randomly come down with them and a lot of them are smokers/vapers, but I now engage in basic hygiene measures after my crap immune system was proven.

Massively tempting fate here I know but my DS is nearly 4 and has only had two sick bugs, both times only vomiting once. I only know they were sick bugs because days later DH and I got them properly!!!

It depends so much on luck!! My eldest had a 24 hour sick bug when he was 7, the younger two never had anything. My youngest managed the entirety of her schooldays without an absence after Year 1 when she got impetigo and had to be off.

I was terrified of any of us getting sick bugs as couldn't watch, hear or even smell someone being sick without having to go to the toilet myself. I'm slightly better now and managed to comfort my 19 year old when she was throwing up post anaesthetic without heading to the nearest loo Grin

Mine have had sick bugs every year since starting nursery. Last winter they only had one which was actually a good year 😩

I just don't need it this week. Single parent, ex is due to have them this weekend (I've had them for the past three or four) and I need a fucking break. So badly. If they're sick they probably won't be going. And I had plans for the weekend too 😭
