SSP1 form - Not entitled to statutory sick pay

Hi everyone,
I'm hoping someone can advise me on what to do. Been signed off sick from work, but unfortunately I don't meet the criteria for receiving statutory sick pay Sad
I've been given and SSP1 form instead, but I'm not too sure what to do with it/where to take it. Do I take it to my local job centre?

Why do you not qualify?

If an employee is not eligible or theirSSPends

Employees may be able to apply forUniversal CreditorEmployment and Support Allowance (ESA). They useform SSP1to support their application.

If your employee’sSSPis ending you must send them form SSP1 either:

  • within 7 days of theirSSPending, if it ends unexpectedly while they’re still sick
  • on or before the beginning of the 23rd week, if theirSSPis expected to end before their sickness does

If your employee does not qualify forSSPyou must send them form SSP1 within 7 days of them going off sick.

If your employee thinks this is unfair, they can appeal toHMRC- the form tells them how to do this.
