Night #4 of latent labour: some violent contractions but I'm back to nothing

I was expressing as the MWs told me to. That triggered some contractions that felt like the real thing but now I'm back to mild contractions with no pattern to it.

I'm torn between letting it be or express a but more and see how that goes

It's so frustrating! You have my sympathies.
Honestly, I'd try and sleep a bit. You'll be too knackered if you start labour after a night of no sleep. Maybe a nice walk on the morning if it isn't too wet out there?

Rainbowhairdontcare · 14/10/2019 03:57

I have a fairly busy morning tomorrow, so hopefully that will help.

So far contractions only make me fart (sorry for the TMI!)

Just let it take it's course I guess. X

How are you doing now? I remember feeling very lonely in this stage. Hope you're doing ok and managed some rest

Rainbowhairdontcare · 14/10/2019 08:15

I think I slept about 3 hours, I'm all achy. I'll call the midwives later and ask them about expressing. Still have some very mild contractions.

Midwife said to keep expressing!

Hope you've progressed now!

Nope, nothing and I'm wide awake

What gestation are you?
Honestly I wouldn’t bother expressing etc unless you’ve got nothing to lose ie induction booked in the morning or whatever. I just don’t think it works most of the time and just makes this stage more drawn out and miserable.

Rainbowhairdontcare · 15/10/2019 07:25

I'm 38 weeks today. Last Thursday I had a sweep and was 2cm dialted and my cervix was soft.

I ended up have two extremely painful contractions on their own and then as ALWAYS they faded away.

38 weeks?
Is there a particular reason you are wanting to get baby out, (other than obviously being heavily pregnant is rubbish?)

I don’t think your body or your baby are ready. Go to the garage, buy a big bag of carbs. Come back home, lie on sofa, find new box set. Nap often. Honestly. You won’t regret it.

Rainbowhairdontcare · 15/10/2019 09:29

I'm at a very high risk of rupture. Induction only makes it riskier but I don't want a C-section as the complications almost killed last time (I'm not exaggerating).

Consultants really want this baby out ideally before the 40th week ends as also having a big baby is higher risk for rupture.

The midwives have decided our best chance is to try to induce me as "naturally" as possible.

I'm still not even sure which one I'm more terrified of induction or another c section.

Acupuncture? I think it helped me along. Also bouncing on the ball. Orgasm will give an oxytocin spike more powerful than expressing. Sperm softens the cervix if you have a willing partner.

TerribleCustomerCervix · 15/10/2019 09:48

I was the same with dc1- 4 days of latent labour before she decided she was ready.

Try and stay hydrated, eat and go for a walk.

I wallowed in self pity and exhaustion and I think that really delayed things getting going properly.

Rainbowhairdontcare · 15/10/2019 09:51

My DH has done as much as he can! Unfortunately as I'm not sleeping and sometimes end up crying in pain I wake him up :(
