Will this be edible?!

More because I'm disorganised than for economic reasons. No food in the house. Usually I can cobble something together but there really isn't much. Did this sound like "soup" you would eat?!

Takeaway is still an option.

Large baking potato, couple sweet potatoes, couple carrots. Peel, chop, cook in a little oil, then boil with a couple of stock cubes, blend. Some double cream I could add.

Sweet potato and carrot soup, followed by a baked potato, do you have cheese

ahundredandtwo · 13/10/2019 16:05

No cheese or butter so baked potato not really an option.

Sounds like a pretty solid claggy soup. Why not bake the sweet potato and have it with fried onions and crispy bacon (sounds like you have the basics if that includes bacon). Or tinned tuna and mayo on baked potatoes? Maybe it’s because I don’t like potatoes in soup...

Do you have any onions? The soup may be a little bland without

owlonabike · 13/10/2019 16:07

Instead of a baked potato you could do wedges in oil and paprika.

ahundredandtwo · 13/10/2019 16:07

I don't have any of those things and DC not keen on anything fried.

Roast the veg with any seasoning you've got then blend with water and stock and heat. It's tastier that way!

ahundredandtwo · 13/10/2019 16:08

No onion or even garlic which I thought might add flavour. Could add chilli.

Yep I might roast first. Thanks.

Sounds fine to me. Maybe with added mixed herbs, or nutmeg or garlic pepper if you've got anything like that?

EleanorReally · 13/10/2019 16:10

Roast it then turn it into soup

P1nkHeartLovesCake · 13/10/2019 16:10

I’d rather the take away tbh

Secretlifeofme · 13/10/2019 16:10

In that case, I would go with @lakequeen's suggestion of roasting. Maybe add some cumin or turmeric if you have any, and salt

ahundredandtwo · 13/10/2019 16:22

Thanks all. Going to roast then blend. Will have it early and if it doesn't go down well there's time to order takeaway.

Only helpful for the future but you can but frozen onion and garlic. Helpful for us as there's only 2 of us an I got sick of throwing away most of the bulb of garlic.
