What candles/oils are you burning on these autumn nights?

Given up on Yankee candles due to the black soot they have been leaving on the ceiling Hmm I'm currently working through two cheap glade lime and something else ones that are nice, for the price (1.99) the throw is fairly good. I got a home made aromatherapy candle that is lovely, it's lavender and rosemary I think and lovely scent, but it doesn't fill the house exactly. Might try burning some essentials oils.

What is everyone else using and what do you recommend?

St. Eval Bay and Rosemary. Really makes the room smell gorgeous.

I've switched from the summer fruits to autumnal pear pie with a hint of cinnamon.

Home baking scented wax melts, couldn't think of anything better to make my house smell like autumn!

If you like the Yankee smell but not the spot, I recommend a candle lamp. Yankee large jars fit under them and heat up the wax (you can change the dial to determine how quickly the wax pool forms/ strong the scent becomes) and zero soot!

Soot. Not spot!!

Misters Candles. They're on Etsy and Amazon.

I have Parks Vanilla, Sandalwood and Ylang Ylang burning at the moment. I really rate Aldi's fake Jo Malone candles. Beefayre candles and diffusers are gorgeous, but spendy.

I have a Woodwick Oudwood melt oozing next to me as I type. I also have Sand & Fog Tobacco and Vanilla and a wax Lyrical Saharan Gold candle. Lovely!

I’ve got a few pumpkin spice pillar candles that I bought from homesense last year. The scent is still strong and has a good throw; I’m really impressed

I love Old man & Magpie soy candles.

Oud
Oak wood & Tobacco
Cedar wood & Juniper
Wild fog & Cassis

These are my favorite ones.

I roasted lamb today which always leaves a lingering smell that seems to stick to all the soft furnishings in the house. I threw a few drops of tea tree oil in the sink and poured in a kettle of boiling water. The smell literally wafted through the whole house and I can still smell it, must try that again. Also want to invest in an oud candle @honeybunlatte, will look up that site.

Winter orange or a gingerbread are on the go at the moment

Bluesheep8 · 20/10/2019 09:26

I use Yankee melts in an oil burner. I burn the heavenly witches brew all year round.

Bluesheep8 · 20/10/2019 09:27

Also burn patchouli oil in another oil burner, sometimes mixed with rosemary or clary sage oil.

BentNeckLady · 20/10/2019 09:28

Shearers frankincense and myrrh

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 20/10/2019 10:37

I love Yankee but hate the soot etc so swapped for an electric tart burner and scenterpiece one. So much better and I can smell throughout the entire house. Currently got red apple wreath and it feels like Christmas.

Trimming candle wicks between burning can help with sooting
