We are heading to Belfast this week for DS to take a look at Queen's
We are there for just a day
Fly in to Belfast international at 9am back out late evening
Best ways to travel from the airport to the city center?
Best ways to get around the city?
And any recommendations for a late lunch/early dinner?

I wouldnt bother going into the city centre from the airport, I'd just get a taxi to take you straight out to Queen's Quarter. If you get the bus from the airport, you will have to change at the Europa Bus Centre or walk - too much faffing about when you're on a time limit IMO. There are lots of nice restaurants around Queen's. The Barking Dog is a lovely little bistro style place. Holohan's could be another option - I've never been myself but I've heard it's lovely. Or Molly's Yard, which also specialises in craft beers. The Ulster Museum is right beside QUB and is free and could be a nice stroll if that's your kind of thing. If you wanted to go back into the city centre to eat, look at Cathedral Quarter, which has the best selection of restaurants and a nice buzz to it. I like Fish City, which is at the back of Victoria Square, or Coppi, in St Anne's Square. Or if you wanted to be a little bit closer to the Europa for a bus back out, Home or Made in Belfast would be my picks of places closer to there.

Taxi to Queens definitely. The Ulster Museum is fab if you’ve got loads of time, the cafe’s nothing special. If you take a bus back to the Europa, you can have a drink in the Crown Liquor Saloon and Sweet Afton in Brunswick Street is close by and excellent.

Do try to pop into the Crown as a pp said. The craftsmen who worked in St Anne's Cathedral moonlighted here apparently, that's why the beautiful carving and woodwork! Also apparently the same architect was designing Queens and University College Cork, the story goes he brought the wrong blueprints to the meeting. So UCC should have been Queen's and vice versa. He just styled it out! Maybe these are just urban myths but fun stories nonetheless! Belfast has become an amazingly vibrant city and people are so warm and friendly, hope you love it.

Yeah all the woodwork in the crown is the original (restored using cotton buds), still have working gas lamps, the lot. It is awesome. Howard street round the corner is a really good restaurant, or yugo for Asian style.

Belfast is small and you can walk from Queens to city centre no problem.
I love Avoca for food and a browse, it’s a lovely shop with amazing food.

You can do one of the Black taxi tours too if you want to see all the murals/ peace line etc. Crumlin Road Gaol worth seeing too.
