Problems with pain a few weeks ago .Saw regular dentist ,infected root ,antibiotics precribed and taken ,appointment for 31 Oct .Couldn't offer one sooner .

Some pain on sat ,woken up this morning with swelling .

Do ppl think dentist will see as an emergency tomorrow ,Monday ? Presumably for more AB's .

Do ppl think ok to wait until tomorrow ? Pain not too bad .

It's son who has problem .

ok I've just looked at NHS advice and think ok to wait until tomorrow as advice

^Go to A&E if you have toothache and:
the area around your eye or your neck is swollen
swelling in your mouth or neck is making it difficult for you to breathe, swallow or speak^

doesn't apply .

A swollen face, particularly in a child is certainly an emergency. Please make sure you get seen today. Call 111 and ask where the emergency dentist cover is and how to access it. Please don't leave it.

Hope the dentist will fit him in tomorrow morning, can he gargle with salt water today

peridito · 13/10/2019 12:35

Yes he's doing salt water rinses .

I suppose I'm trying to guage how likely it is they'll fit him in .Surely they will ,it won't be for treatment I imagine just a quick look and a prescription ?

My face swelled from a gum infection that ended up being treated as cellulitist(sp?). There can be extreme pain and it can be hard to clear, I would seek immediate medical advice and not wait. It took 3 days for treatment to work and I was very ill. The dentist told me his secretary was negligent advising me my symptoms could wait 3 days for a regular appt. I had at that point gotten advice from a pharmacist who spoke to the dentist on my behalf

Harp1977 · 13/10/2019 12:41

My appt they removed the new crown, repacked with a Milton solution filling and treated with 4 weeks antibiotics. I

The speed of swelling is the issue I was told
My face swelled up in 3 hrs no heat or pain just itchy and tight
Would he go to an open pharmacy and speak to someone there? I am not in the UK but our A&E have on call dentists they refer you to (we pay about €100) so a phone call or a chat at reception ofA&E may help if immediate care is needed. But I would find an open chemist as first port of call on a Sunday if you have no out if hrs.
