THE best, most effective earplugs for noise? Recommendations please ...

Hi. Going on holiday with my 3 children. We are sharing a family room, as that's all I can afford. We're all very much looking forward to it, but my eldest daughter (18) has misophonia (an actual diagnosis of it!) and ASD.
I don't want our sleep sounds (snoring, loud breathing) to drive her loopy over the 10 days we'll be away.

Please can anyone recommend a set of amazing earplugs. Ones that really, really work.

Many thanks Smile

I have a very snory dh. I find the yellow foam ones best, get them in boots. I've tried silicone ones and didn't like them. I've spent loads on titanium ones that were uncomfortable and shit.

Thank you! Will check those out. Unfortunately she has the hearing of a bat when it comes to most 'human' noises, such as eating, breathing and snoring.
A dripping tap in her en-suite however, bothers her not one jot!

Howard Leight. The yellow and pink ones. I have used them for 9 years due to snoring DH.

Muffles was ones from Boots - about £2.70

Lightsabre · 13/10/2019 12:23

Was= wax!

Celeriacacaca · 13/10/2019 12:33

Quies wax ones. Usually from smaller independent chemists. They're brilliant.

saltysally · 13/10/2019 12:35

Howard leight laser lite - great for female / small ears. They are pink and yellow

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 13/10/2019 12:38

I always found the wax ones to be great, it helped to warm them slightly by holding them in your hand to make them more mouldable.

nowifi · 13/10/2019 12:41

Silicon or wax ones are much better than the rubber ones in my opinion. Ear plugs veteran here Grin

fireworkbaby · 13/10/2019 14:19

Another vote for the pink and yellow Howard Leight ones. Have been using them for years, have never found any others that compare.

BigbreastsBiggerbeard · 13/10/2019 14:36

Pink and yellow Howard Leight ones - I buy them in bulk. They are great. They don't block out noise completely, but they definitely prevent noise getting through and waking me up if I'm asleep. And of course they deaden noise.

I also used some mouldable ones that had the consistency of plasticine. They were the best EVER. They weren't cheap. All I can remember is that they were blue helpful

www.amazon.co.uk/MACKS%C2%AE-Slim-Soft-Earplugs-Pairs/dp/B007R3RUVK?tag=mumsnetforu03-21 Can't recommed these enough. I work nights so I need to sleeping during the day in a noisy neighbourhood. They fit my tiny ear holes very well.

PonteLaCorona · 13/10/2019 14:53

Pink and yellow Laser lites are life changing. No exaggeration.

granadagirl · 13/10/2019 15:00

Ditto the yellow foam one’s
Roll them first

Girliefriendlikescake · 13/10/2019 15:04

Silicone ear plugs definitely, you can buy them cheaply on Amazon and poss in Boots...

Kerning · 13/10/2019 15:11

Howard Leight Laser Lite pink and yellow - as others have said, amazing.

I don't rate the yellow and pink ones at all. Too soft and insubstantial.

peacelilypeace · 13/10/2019 15:19

You can get custom moulded ones made, I think Specsavers make them.

Daffodil2018 · 13/10/2019 15:21

I find foam earplugs completely ineffective. They fall out and don't completely block the noise.

Bio Ears are the ones to go for. £5ish in Boots or on Amazon. You can pull them apart into the right size - one ear plug does both ears for me.

loulouljh · 13/10/2019 15:24

boots muffles which are wax....by way the best.

Dowser · 13/10/2019 15:30

I used to get the foam gun ones from Walmart
I’ve seen similar here but defo not as sturdy

Dieu · 13/10/2019 15:35

Thanks everyone!
I will probably end up buying the whole lot, just to be on the safe side Grin

Or you could try a mixed pack containing different shapes and sizes as not all earplugs fit everyone www.snorestore.co.uk/acatalog/earplug-samples-for-women.html
