I'm not a fan of either I'm afraid and they sound very American. If I had to choose I'd say Wyatt as I once went to Lincoln and apart from the cathedral it's pretty grim.

mrwalkensir · 12/10/2019 20:16

you can have two or more middle names Smile

Sparklyring · 12/10/2019 20:16

Wyatt is lovely, Lincoln is dreadful.

I heard someone call her child Wyatt today and thought that I’d not heard that name used recently in the uk.

I prefer Lincoln.

Oakandlove · 12/10/2019 20:20

Lincoln, Wyatt is very redneck

IWouldBeSuperb · 12/10/2019 20:21

They're different sounding names - so surely one must go better with the middle name you've chosen and your surname?

Loveislandaddict · 12/10/2019 20:24

Love them both. Don’t choose the name until the baby arrives. You will know what fits.

Wheat2Harvest · 12/10/2019 20:28

The local accent needs to be taken into account, I think. I lived for a while in east London and the Lincoln I knew had his name pronounced as Ling-kin. Wyatt (not that I knew a Wyatt) would have had the most almighty glottal stop at the end of his name and I wouldn't have wanted that.

ClashCityRocker · 12/10/2019 20:28

I like them both, but living in Yorkshire, home of the gluttoral stop, I couldn't call a child Wyatt.

So Lincoln for me. Linc is a cool nickname too.

ClashCityRocker · 12/10/2019 20:29

Cross Post with wheat there!

Frith2013 · 12/10/2019 20:35

I’m not keen on either but Lincoln is slightly better. It’s not a very inspiring city though.

MerryMarigold · 12/10/2019 20:38

I think Lincoln's a lively name. I wouldn't think of the city, c resurrected if it was attached to a beautiful small child or a handsome man!

MerryMarigold · 12/10/2019 20:39

Especially if it was attached to a beautiful small child...

SpaghettiSharon · 12/10/2019 20:43

You’re bound to get opinions of all sorts when posting on MN! They are both very American, which would feel a little odd in some parts of the UK when pronounced with different accents and without the cultural heritage. We have two kids at our school with American names and they often commented on with a quizzical air!

Just something to consider.

dreichsky · 12/10/2019 20:45

Lincoln the person is rather a big name to have to live up to and the small English city a rather odd choice.
Country is perhaps a better way to consider Wyatt rather than redneck, although there are always going to be some that think redneck.

Twisique · 12/10/2019 20:46

What is the middle name?

I would say Lincoln, but only if you have been there and like it.

MerryMarigold · 12/10/2019 20:46

Well Lincoln the car brand is pretty cool too

MerryMarigold · 12/10/2019 20:47

And Link as a nickname is awesome (Hairspray!)...I may another child just to use it!

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 12/10/2019 20:48

I think you might know which one suits best once you see him

SquintEastwood · 12/10/2019 20:49

Lincoln.

Agree with others re accent. I'm Glaswegian and Wyatt sounds a bit odd.

miamiibiza · 12/10/2019 20:53

Lincoln

BathshebaKnickerStickers · 12/10/2019 21:10

Wyatt is Penny’s Dad in The Big Bang Theory’s dad....

I’d pick Wyatt

Leeds2 · 12/10/2019 21:30

If I'm honest, I'm not keen on either. But I am old!!

I prefer Wyatt of the two.

AcrossthePond55 · 12/10/2019 21:56

I'm American. Between the two, I'd rather have my child 'share' a name with Abraham Lincoln than Wyatt Earp.

Inlovewitharagorn · 12/10/2019 23:13

Lincoln.
