Possibly silliest question ever... But I've not done afternoon tea and have 2 dc in two (over 6).

Do you have large breakfast? Or snack at lunch? Or wait....

I think afternoon tea is about 4 p.m., so lunch at the usual time and a later dinner.

Burpsandrustles · 12/10/2019 18:53

It's at 2 30

I don’t eat lunch until then anyway so would just have it instead of lunch.
The DC tend to eat lunch earlier so I’d probably give them a snack at 12ish to tide them over.

SoyDora · 12/10/2019 18:58

My DC are younger though.

orkneyfudge · 12/10/2019 19:01

Brunch 11am
Afternoon tea 2.30pm
Evening meal 8pm

notso · 12/10/2019 19:05

That would be our lunch. We'd have normal breakfast and maybe a snack at 10:30/11.

I think we have wide ranges for mealtimes compared to others though, it's not unheard of for us to be eating lunch at 3 or 4 on a weekend for example.

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 12/10/2019 19:08

2:30 is quite an early afternoon tea. I'd skip lunch if it had to be that early, or push it back to 4pm ish and have a light lunch at 12.

BarbaraofSeville · 12/10/2019 19:31

Same as Orkney. That fudge is amazing btw.

Burpsandrustles · 12/10/2019 19:31

It's a ridiculous conundrum. I want to eat at Bath pump room when we visit soon however the actual lunch menu isn't inspiring. There is a light snack menu that's much better but only available with afternoon tea at 2 30 onwards.

But I'm wondering if that's too long to wait.

I’d treat that as if it was lunch.

SoyDora · 12/10/2019 20:11

What time do you normally have lunch? I have mine anytime between 2 and 4 usually so would be completely fine.

WhenDoISleep · 12/10/2019 20:14

I'd treat that as a late lunch. With DC, depending on ages, I would probably give them a late morning snack.

ElizabethinherGermanGarden · 12/10/2019 20:23

Bacon sandwiches at 10.30am

Burpsandrustles · 12/10/2019 22:53

We get breakfast at b abd b latest 9 30...

Planning on roman baths, not sure how long that would take so I guess snack at 11 but... Arghhhhhhh!!!

It's the most awful menu! Why can't they do that menu and the light snacks menu at same time. However from 2 30 the orchestra plays 😂😂.

Dc eat mostly at 12 we are flexible.... But I can imagine lots of food stalls etc.. Being tempted and several hours to wait.

I wonder how long roman baths would take

I think you’re overthinking it! Just book it, then have a snack at some point mid morning if needed.

Burpsandrustles · 13/10/2019 09:38

Probably soy, I just want to end up wasting money on lunch and be too full to eat afternoon tea.

saraclara · 13/10/2019 09:41

We had breakfast at 9:30 and afternoon tea at 2:00 yesterday. Worked fine for us.

Ignore those who think it's impossible to eat sandwiches and cake before 4!

Dogsaresomucheasier · 13/10/2019 09:43

Late breakfast and late evening supper, skip lunch

Teacakeandalatte · 13/10/2019 09:44

Biggish breakfast and a drink and small snack off the stalls at around 11 but not a lunch.

userabcname · 13/10/2019 09:48

I'd breakfast as late as possible and get them a snack at 12 to see them through.

user1493413286 · 13/10/2019 09:52

I have a big breakfast and probably do the same with kids; possibly a little bowl of cereal at 7am for them and then a breakfast at 11am and a later dinner.
Afternoon tea is tricky with kids

AliceLittle · 13/10/2019 11:33

Breakfast as usual
Stuff yourselves silly with Minerva chocolate from across the road of the Pump rooms
Forget about the afternoon tea after the cocoa coma
Dinner at usual time

raspberryk · 13/10/2019 12:01

Decent cooked breakfast will easily see you through til 2.30 but if not you could all stop for a hot milky drink and maybe a snack if the dc are young at about 12.

Vanillaradio · 13/10/2019 12:16

At 2.30 I would treat as lunch, have biggish breakfast and a snack 12ish to prevent ds grumping. My 5 year old loves afternoon tea but we usually try and do it 4.30ish and just replace dinner with it.

CherryPavlova · 13/10/2019 12:25

An early afternoon tea at 2:30pm would replace lunch. I don’t usually eat breakfast so might have a coffee with a biscuit around 11:30am.

I think Pump room menu is fine, as happens. They do sausage rolls and other snacks. Even my mother in law finds something to eat.
