Washer/dryer recommendations please

We are moving house soon and need to get a new washer dryer. Kitchen is absolutely tiny so needs to have the dryer part. Other requirements include at least 8kg washing capacity, needs to have 60cm or less depth and I would like to be able to vary temperature, spin and drying time on the preset washes. Have been recommended Indesit, Bosch and Siemens by various people, prices seem very different but don't mind paying out for better washing and drying results.

I've had 3 washer/dryers and the dryers have all been shit. They just creased everything beyond ironing. I use it for towels, bedding and underwear only.
Our latest one is a hoover one and the best so far, it was about £400

i have just bought a hotpoint 1600 spin washer dryer and it is brilliant. measurements seem to fit the specifications you are looking for.
the depth you are looking for will limit your options.

I used to visit a washing machine factory in a work related role years ago. I was advised that washer/driers neither wash nor dry efficiently.
Can you dry your washing on a line?

We've just bought a Blomberg LRF2854111W. 8kg wash/5kg drying capacity.

You can vary the temp, spin speed, drying time etc. There's a delay timer so you can have your washing ready at a time that suits.

There's a wool mark apparel care approved Woollens setting, which appealed to me as I have quite a lot of natural fibre clothing. Obviously can't be tumbled dried though!

I only tend to use the dryer for bedding and towels. It does take a while, with the synthetics dry program not being brilliant - still patches of damp when taken out of the machine. But overall I'm pleased with it.

We're looking at this one: www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/household-appliances/laundry/washer-dryers/hoover-dynamic-wdxoc-4106a-smart-10-kg-washer-dryer-white-10180751-pdt.html?intcmpid=display~RR

We had a hoover in our rental and it was brilliant.

Thanks for the recommendations. I like the look of the blomberg but can't seem to find many reviews of it long term. Yes I do dry clothes on a line in the summer and have two airers inside next to a radiator. I mainly dry towels and sheets too, but really couldn't do without the dryer for that.

Whatever you do don't get a Beko. It's had two fixes in warranty, then intermittently plays up. It works enough to stick with it, but I wished it would blow up so I could get a new one!

We've had excellent Zanussi appliances in the past, so may look at that brand again. Our Bosch washer isn't all it's cracked up to be, the handle broke just out of warranty, so have to use a knitting needle on the emergency door lever everytime I want it open!

@fluffybottom that's the one we have, no complaints so far. I paid much closer to £400 though

Mollpop · 12/10/2019 19:20

I've got a Samsung Ecobubble which is brilliant. Much better than my old AEG.

fluffybottom · 12/10/2019 20:19

@StopMakingATitOfUrselfNPissOff it looks like only currys stock that particular model. Great to hear you like it. AO/ John Lewis do a slightly cheaper one but looks fairly similar that we're deliberating over. ao.com/product/wdxoa4106hc-hoover-dynamic-next-advance-washer-dryer-white-63707-2.aspx

I've had washer/dryers since 1981, when I was advised by a salesman to buy the very best, as the "cheaper" ones were rubbish.
My Dsis has a Miele which she has had for years.
There are 6 adults in our household (so lots of washing) The brands I have altenated between for the last 30 odd years have been Bosch and Siemans.
Your dryer will not be as efficient as a standard tumble dryer, but works quite well if you do not overfill it.
